Before you start: open the route to the church
Open enough of Liberty Falls to reach Holy Falls Church and Pack-a-Punch. Interact with the large machine on the right side of the church to start the story dialogue. You will return to this machine during the quest, and the second interaction after the second canister is deposited starts the finale.

Activision’s Liberty Falls map guide recommends an early church push: “Church chase: While the main objective of Liberty Falls is survival, focus on getting to the Church at your earliest convenience.” Its route overview starts at the rooftop above Pump and Pay and describes two early ways into town: west past the Motor Lodge toward Liberty Lanes, or north along Riverside. That is general map guidance, not a full Easter Egg route.
The Jet Gun workbench is in the upper room of the Rest E-Z Motor Lodge. You need three components to craft the Thrustodyne M23: the Handbrake, Water Pressure Gauge, and Electrical Wires.

How to get the Thrustodyne M23 (Jet Gun)
- Get the Toolshed Key. Kill the Groundskeeper in the graveyard and collect the key he drops. PowerPyx reports that the special enemy can appear after roughly 30–40 graveyard zombie kills and may disappear if you do not kill him quickly; treat that count as a guide estimate, not a guaranteed spawn trigger. Use the key on the shed near the church and take the Handbrake.
- Build pressure for the Water Pressure Gauge. Take the valve from outside Lily’s Flowerpot. In Liberty Lanes, melee the wall box open, install the valve, then hold the interact control to build pressure. PowerPyx estimates this takes about a minute; zombies spawn while you work, so a teammate can cover you. Collect the Water Pressure Gauge when the sequence finishes.
- Get the Electrical Wires. Open the Radio House Electronics Superstore gate. PowerPyx describes two options: use a crafted Mangler Cannon or bait a Mangler into firing at the gate. Crafting the cannon costs 1,250 salvage and, according to that guide, requires online Level 20. The level requirement is for this convenient crafted option, not for the Easter Egg itself. Search the piles inside for the wires.
- Craft the Jet Gun. Return to the upper room of the Rest E-Z Motor Lodge and use the workbench to combine the Handbrake, Water Pressure Gauge, and Electrical Wires.
Use the Jet Gun to collect the LTG parts
The LTG parts float out of reach; use the Jet Gun’s suction to pull each one down. The three documented locations are:
- Inside the broken ceiling at Olly’s Comics.
- Visible through the Buzz’s Cuts window. Reach the nearby truck by jumping onto it from a rooftop, then use the Jet Gun from there.
- Above the church balcony. Interact with the church machine again to make this part available, then suck it down.
Take the three parts to the LTG workbench on the bank rooftop and craft the device.

First Aether canister: defend the LTG and capture an elite
- Pick up a canister. Take an Aether canister from the church machine and carry it to a Dark Aether storm. The two storm locations named by GameSpot are the cemetery and the area beside Pump and Pay. Carrying the canister slows you, so clear a route before setting out.
- Set up the encounter. Place the canister by the relevant field trap and set the LTG at the storm’s trap component.
- Defend the LTG. Hold the area until the device completes its defense and the elite enemy appears. GameSpot describes a 60-second defense window, but follow the on-screen encounter progress.
- Capture the enemy’s essence. Damage the elite without killing it, draw it close to the canister, then activate the field trap. The enemy must die inside the trap for its essence to be captured. The guides do not agree on a single universal spawn: PowerPyx names a Mangler called Eridicad for this encounter, while GameSpot says the HVT may be a Mangler or an Abomination. The shared mechanic is to weaken the spawned elite and finish it in the trap.
- Return to the church. Carry the filled canister back to the church machine and collect the Strauss Counter.
Projector puzzle: resolve the color discrepancy in-game
Use the Strauss Counter beside each of the three projectors. PowerPyx places them by the church lawn, near the shed, and on the lower roof reached from the bank rooftop. Its stated mapping is:

GameSpot gives a conflicting instruction: set each projector to match the color shown by the Counter. Because the guides disagree, do not treat either mapping as a guaranteed rule for every run. Watch the game’s response as you adjust each projector and use the beam or other visible feedback to confirm progress. GameSpot reports that advancing a round and resetting the projectors helped when the step failed to register.

Second Aether canister: repeat the capture at the other storm
Collect the newly available canister at its indicated location, retrieve the LTG, and take both to the storm site you did not use for the first capture. Repeat the defense and trap sequence: protect the LTG, weaken the spawned elite, and activate the field trap when it is beside the canister so its essence is captured. Return the filled canister to the church and deposit it in the machine.
Do not interact with the machine again until you are ready to begin the boss fight. PowerPyx warns that this second interaction starts the finale.

Prepare for and finish the church boss fight
The final encounter begins inside the church after the second canister is deposited and you interact with the machine again. The guides describe three waves of zombie hordes and elite enemies in the church’s limited space. Keep moving, manage the crowd, and focus damage on the elites as they appear.
Gear advice is preparation, not a quest requirement. PowerPyx recommends at least Pack-a-Punch Level 2, purple weapon rarity, perks, and blue armor as a baseline, with stronger upgrades, self-revive, and Monkey Bombs as further help. GameSpot recommends core perks such as Juggernog and Quick Revive, a self-revive if available, and distraction equipment; it cautions against aerial killstreaks indoors. Choose equipment that works in a confined room and gives you room to reposition.

Defeat the waves to complete the main quest and earn the “Bye-Bye, Dark Aether” achievement. No special prerequisite is stated for the Standard Mode quest. The Aetherella statue Easter Egg is separate and is not required for this route.

- Solo or squad: The guides cover solo and squad play. Teammates can protect the player holding the Liberty Lanes pressure interaction and help defend the LTG, but the documented quest mechanics remain the same.
- Radio House gate: If you cannot craft a Mangler Cannon, baiting a Mangler into shooting the gate is the alternative described by PowerPyx.
