If Light Up the Town crashes on your PC or will not open, start with reversible checks: restart Windows, check for an update in the storefront where you got the game, and reduce background resource use. These are troubleshooting suggestions—not confirmed fixes. The available exact-title guide is a third-party article, and no official developer, publisher, system requirements, known-issue page, or support channel for the game could be verified.
Before changing settings, note when the crash happens
Record whether the game closes before launch, during loading, at a particular scene, or after an update. Save the exact error text. Also note whether only the game closes or the entire PC restarts; that distinction can help support identify what to investigate.
The CPU Guide’s December 15, 2025 article, “FIX: Light Up the Town Crashing on PC”, lists common troubleshooting ideas. It is not a developer-confirmed fix list, and its recommendations do not establish the cause of any particular crash.
Try low-impact checks first
1. Restart Windows
Restart the PC, then try launching the game again. This is a simple first attempt, not a guaranteed fix.

2. Check for a game update in its storefront
Open the launcher or storefront you used to obtain the game and look for an update there. The exact-title guide recommends checking for updates, but does not verify a particular storefront or provide title-specific update instructions. First confirm that you are using the genuine publisher or storefront for your copy.
3. Reduce background load and graphics demand
Close only nonessential applications that are using substantial system resources. If the game opens far enough to reach its settings, temporarily lower its graphics settings and test again. No particular resolution or graphics option has been verified as a fix for this title.

4. Check Windows and graphics drivers
Check Windows Update, and consult the support page for your PC or graphics-card manufacturer for an appropriate driver update. The exact-title guide suggests checking Windows and drivers; Microsoft also recommends driver updates in its general guidance for older-app compatibility. An update may help in some cases, but there is no verified title-specific driver requirement.
Use Windows repair only if it is available
Windows can offer a Repair option for some apps and programs, but not all. If the game appears in Windows app settings and Repair is available, try that before Reset or reinstalling. Microsoft’s instructions explain that the menu differs between Windows 10 and Windows 11: Repair apps and programs in Windows.

Do not assume that Windows will expose Repair for this game. If it does not, check the game’s actual storefront for built-in repair or file-check options, if offered. No such feature or storefront path has been verified for Light Up the Town.
Treat administrator and compatibility settings as tests
The third-party guide suggests running the game as administrator. Microsoft’s general troubleshooting material also discusses compatibility settings, but neither establishes that these changes fix this title. If you try one, change only that setting, test the game, and restore the original setting if nothing improves. Avoid leaving elevated permissions enabled without a clear reason.

Microsoft’s compatibility guidance covers supported cases in Windows 10 and 11, including the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter: Make older apps or programs compatible with the latest version of Windows. Microsoft’s separate crash article applies to specific named games, so it should not be read as official Light Up the Town support: Game crashes or closes unexpectedly.

The third-party guide mentions adding an antivirus exception, but does not establish that a security detection is causing the crash or that an exclusion is safe. Do not disable protection or broadly whitelist game folders as a routine first step. If your security software reports a specific detection, verify the game’s source and investigate the alert with the security vendor before changing protection settings.

When the crash continues
Before reinstalling or contacting support, gather the details that make a report actionable:
- The crash timing and exact error message, if any.
- Your Windows version and PC hardware details.
- Graphics driver version and whether Windows or the game recently updated.
- Which checks you tried and what changed, if anything.
Use the support route shown by the verified publisher or storefront where you obtained the game. The CPU Guide recommends contacting support but does not identify a verified official channel for this title. No official support contact or known crash cause could be confirmed.
