Recent lists repeatedly rate several Identities highly, but the best pick for your team depends on role, status synergy, enemy resistances, and upgrade investment. This guide uses rankings updated from September 15 to October 6, 2026; check the linked lists for changes after those dates.
How to read a Limbus Company tier list
Tier labels are useful for prioritizing options, not a universal measure of how every Identity performs in every fight. Pocket Tactics notes that Limbus Company has no competitive meta and that its tier list is subjective (Pocket Tactics). Treat placements as informed editorial advice: your preferred playstyle and the encounter can justify a lower-ranked choice.
Lists also use different scales. Pocket Gamer separates its highest picks into S+ and S tiers, Pocket Tactics uses SS, while gacha.gg aggregates placements into its own tiers. A name recurring near the top across lists is a more useful signal than comparing labels directly.
Cross-list standouts
The following Identities appear among the recurring high placements in the recent lists. This is a cross-list shortlist, not a definitive ranking from best to worst:

The October 1, 2026 gacha.gg aggregation also places The House of Spiders: The Ring Nursefather Hong Lu, R Corp. 4th Pack Rabbit Heathcliff, The Manager of La Manchaland Don Quixote, and Dawn Office Fixer Faust in S tier. Its page says it ranks 175 characters using median placement across 15 current tier lists (gacha.gg). Pocket Gamer’s September 17, 2026 list for version 1.114.0 and Pocket Tactics’ September 15 list feature many of the same standout names, but their tier labels and groupings differ (Pocket Gamer; Pocket Tactics).
Choosing an Identity for your team
Start with the job you need filled
Think about whether your team needs a damage dealer, a status specialist, support, or a tank. Those are the role categories Prydwen uses in its guide. A high placement matters less if an Identity does not fill a useful role in your lineup (Prydwen).

Check status and ally synergy
Status-focused Identities are most valuable when the rest of the team can support the same plan. For example, Pocket Gamer’s discussion of R Corp. 4th Pack Rabbit Heathcliff highlights damage alongside Bleed, Fragile, and Rupture application. Its One Who Shall Grip Sinclair discussion points to Bleed, Blunt skills, an interaction with Faust’s passive, and a raised Stagger Threshold. These are that guide’s explanations of the kits, not proof that either Identity is best in every lineup (Pocket Gamer).
Match damage to the encounter
Enemy resistances can change which option is practical. Pocket Gamer specifically notes that LCCB Assistant Manager Ishmael has Blunt-only skills and recommends considering enemy resistance before choosing her. A strong general ranking cannot replace checking the fight’s damage-type demands (Pocket Gamer).

Account for upgrades
A tier placement does not establish that an Identity performs equally well at every upgrade level. Before spending resources, check what level of investment the ranking assumes and whether the mechanics that make the Identity appealing are available at your current upgrade level. The cited rankings do not establish one shared investment baseline.

The lists cited here are maintained by gaming publications or aggregators, not issued as official rankings by Project Moon. Prydwen’s captured guide was updated October 6, 2026 and describes roles, but its interactive tier rows did not expose specific names in the captured page; use it for its role framework and update date rather than as evidence for a named placement. Pocket Gamer says its list was updated September 17, 2026 for version 1.114.0, while Pocket Tactics’ list is dated September 15, 2026. The gacha.gg aggregation is dated October 1, 2026.
