DLSS 4 and DLSS 4.5 are not RTX 50-only. Every GeForce RTX 20-, 30-, 40-, and 50-Series GPU supports the newer Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, and DLAA models. Frame Generation requires RTX 40 or RTX 50, while Multi Frame Generation (including Dynamic Multi Frame Generation) requires RTX 50. The game lists and NVIDIA App options below reflect NVIDIA’s compatibility information current to July 28, 2026.
Which GPUs support each DLSS 4 feature?
NVIDIA’s support matrix is organized by GeForce RTX generation rather than individual graphics-card model. “DLSS 4” and “DLSS 4.5” describe model and feature updates; they do not replace the underlying hardware requirements for Frame Generation or Multi Frame Generation.
| DLSS feature | RTX 50 Series | RTX 40 Series | RTX 30 Series | RTX 20 Series |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DLSS Dynamic Multi Frame Generation | Yes | No | No | No |
| DLSS Multi Frame Generation | Yes | No | No | No |
| DLSS Frame Generation | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| DLSS Ray Reconstruction | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| DLSS Super Resolution | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| DLAA | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
That means an RTX 20- or 30-Series card can use the updated DLSS Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, and DLAA models, but cannot create frames with DLSS Frame Generation or Multi Frame Generation. RTX 40 cards add conventional Frame Generation. RTX 50 cards add both Multi Frame Generation modes.
NVIDIA’s current RTX 50 desktop navigation includes the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 family, RTX 5060 family, and RTX 5050, as well as RTX 50-Series laptop GPUs. Feature support still depends on the game and its DLSS implementation.

How to read NVIDIA’s compatibility symbols
The table at NVIDIA RTX Games, Engines and Apps records both native integrations and NVIDIA App overrides.
- ✓ [ NV, 6X ] means DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation can reach 6X through native support or an NVIDIA App override.
- ✓ [ NV, 4X ] means Multi Frame Generation can reach 4X through native support or an override.
- ✓ [ NV, U ] in the Frame Generation column means native Frame Generation can be upgraded to a newer model, including Preset B where supported.
- ✓ [ NV, T ] in Super Resolution or Ray Reconstruction means the native feature can use a newer transformer model through an NVIDIA App override.
Overrides do not turn DLSS on by themselves. The corresponding feature must be enabled in the game; for example, the Multi Frame Generation override applies only when in-game Frame Generation is on.
Enable DLSS 4.5 features in the NVIDIA App
All features in the current NVIDIA App update require GeForce Game Ready Driver 595.97 WHQL or newer. NVIDIA says the update is delivered through in-app auto-update or a manual download.

Dynamic Multi Frame Generation (RTX 50 only)
- Open the NVIDIA App and select Graphics.
- Choose global settings or an individual game.
- Open DLSS Override – Frame Generation Mode.
- Select Dynamic.
- Choose Max refresh rate, or choose Custom and enter a maximum target frame rate.
Max refresh rate matches the target to the display’s maximum refresh rate. Custom lets you enter another ceiling. Dynamic mode is currently incompatible with both frame-rate limiters and V-Sync, so disable those controls when using it.
Fixed Multi Frame Generation (RTX 50 only)
- Open DLSS Override – Frame Generation Mode.
- Select Fixed.
- Choose the desired Frame Generation multiplier.
All compatible Multi Frame Generation titles can use 4X. 6X is limited to selected games with newer Frame Generation DLLs or applicable NVIDIA App support. To use traditional 2X Frame Generation, select Use 3D app setting and enable Frame Generation in the game.
Enhanced Frame Generation model (RTX 40 and RTX 50)
- Open DLSS Override – Model Presets globally or for a game.
- Open the Frame Generation dropdown.
- Select Preset B.
Preset B uses additional game-engine UI buffers to improve clarity for mini-maps, HUD elements, and other static interface elements. NVIDIA listed these supported games on March 31, 2026:
- Borderlands 4
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard
- EA SPORTS F1 25
- God of War Ragnarök
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Monster Hunter Wilds
- Star Wars Outlaws
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
- The Outer Worlds 2
DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution model
- Open the NVIDIA App’s Graphics tab.
- Open DLSS Override – Model Presets globally or for a game.
- Select Recommended.
Recommended maps Performance mode to Preset M, Ultra Performance to Preset L, and all other DLSS modes to Preset K. You can instead select Preset L or Preset M manually, which applies that preset to every DLSS mode. NVIDIA says L and M support Quality, Balanced, Performance, Ultra Performance, and DLAA, with the largest benefits generally in Performance and Ultra Performance modes.

- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads
RTX 20- and RTX 30-Series GPUs lack native FP8 support. NVIDIA warns that Presets M and L therefore cost more performance on those cards and identifies Preset K as a potentially better image-quality/performance balance.

A game can support one DLSS component without supporting another. Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, DLAA, Frame Generation, and Multi Frame Generation are separate features with separate GPU requirements. A title may also receive a newer model through an NVIDIA App override without a new native game patch.
NVIDIA reported more than 1,000 RTX-enhanced games and applications on May 31, 2026. That total covers RTX technologies broadly, so it is not a count of games that all support DLSS 4.5.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is DLSS 4 exclusive to RTX 50 graphics cards?
No. RTX 20, 30, 40, and 50 GPUs support DLSS Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, and DLAA. Only Multi Frame Generation and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation require RTX 50; ordinary Frame Generation requires RTX 40 or 50.
Can an RTX 30 card use the DLSS 4.5 transformer model?
Yes, through supported NVIDIA App model overrides. NVIDIA warns that RTX 20 and 30 cards lack native FP8 support, so Presets M and L can have a higher performance cost; Preset K may be the better balance.
Does enabling an NVIDIA App override activate DLSS in the game?
No. The relevant DLSS feature must still be enabled in the game’s own graphics settings.
