If your Livepush stream will not start on YouTube, first find which connection is failing: the encoder-to-Livepush feed or Livepush’s delivery to YouTube. Then check the destination’s account or stream key, confirm YouTube live streaming is enabled for your channel, and only adjust encoder, internet, or RTMPS settings if the symptoms point there.
1. Check whether Livepush is receiving your encoder
Livepush sits between your encoder and YouTube: the encoder sends video to Livepush, which forwards it to configured destinations. Its dashboard reports connection analytics between the source device, Livepush, and destinations. Start by checking whether the source feed reaches Livepush; if it does not, YouTube destination settings are not the first thing to change.
- Confirm your encoder is running and sending the intended source to Livepush.
- Check the encoder’s connection status, output messages, and any error indicators.
- In Livepush, check the source connection analytics to see whether the feed is arriving.
Livepush names OBS, Streamlabs OBS, XSplit, Wirecast, and vMix as examples of encoders. The available guidance does not establish that one is better than another for a stream-start failure.
2. Verify the YouTube destination in Livepush
Once the source reaches Livepush, check the destination configuration. The right fix depends on whether you linked your YouTube account or entered a stream key manually.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If you connected your YouTube account
- Check that the Google/YouTube account remains connected in Livepush. A disconnected account can stop the destination from connecting.
- Reconnect the account if needed, then save the destination again.
- Confirm the YouTube destination is enabled.
- Verify that the intended live event is selected or created, and that its event details and privacy settings are saved.
Livepush’s connected-account flow links Google/YouTube, lets you select or create an event, set event details and privacy, save, and enable the destination. Livepush describes its workflow and connection analytics; use its help-center live chat if the connected-account integration still fails.
If you entered a stream key manually
- In YouTube Live Control Room, create or select the event you intend to stream.
- Copy that event’s stream key into the YouTube destination in Livepush. Make sure it belongs to this event, not another scheduled or past stream.
- Save the destination and turn its switch on in Livepush.
Livepush says manual destinations must be set up for each event. If you switch to a different event, check that its key is the one saved in the destination.

3. Confirm YouTube channel and event readiness
You need a YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. Livepush says enabling live streaming on a new account can take up to 24 hours, so a newly enabled channel may not be ready immediately. Confirm the channel’s live access and make sure the event exists in YouTube Live Control Room before troubleshooting more advanced encoder settings.
4. Refresh the key if YouTube reports an encoder start error
If YouTube displays an error when starting your encoder, YouTube Help advises getting a new stream key in Live Control Room and updating the third-party encoder. If your streaming software signs in to YouTube without using a stream key and the connection fails, YouTube directs you to the software provider’s support team.

- Update the key in the service or encoder that sends the stream to YouTube. With Livepush, update the manual YouTube destination and save it.
- Retry the stream. Keep the key private; do not post it in a support message or public forum.
See YouTube Help’s troubleshooting guidance for encoder errors.
5. Check encoder health and outbound internet
If the source reaches Livepush but YouTube still does not receive a usable stream, check the encoder and the connection carrying its output. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance distinguishes between encoder problems and outbound network problems:

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
- Encoder errors or high CPU load: update the encoder, inspect its output and error messages, and check whether the computer is under heavy load.
- Healthy encoder output: if the picture and sound look right at the encoder, test the outbound internet connection. YouTube says a network issue may be the cause and advises contacting your internet provider if the test reveals a problem.
A wired connection can be one way to test outbound connectivity, but YouTube does not prescribe a particular cable or say that Ethernet fixes account, event, stream-key, or destination errors.

Do not change transport settings just because a stream will not start. If your configuration uses RTMPS, or YouTube reports an SSL error or timeout, verify the server URL and confirm the encoder supports RTMPS.

- SSL error: YouTube advises checking that the URL uses RTMPS and mentions port 443 as a configuration to try.
- Connection timed out: verify the server URL and the encoder’s RTMPS support.
Copy the actual RTMPS URL from YouTube Live Control Room; do not substitute an example hostname. Follow YouTube’s RTMPS troubleshooting instructions for the transport-specific error you see.
7. Use the failure point to decide what to do next
| What you observe | Likely area to check first | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| The source feed does not appear at Livepush | Encoder-to-Livepush connection | Check that the encoder is running, sending the intended source, and reporting no connection error. |
| The source reaches Livepush, but the YouTube destination is disconnected | Livepush-to-YouTube authentication or destination setup | Reconnect the account or verify the manual event key; save and enable the destination. |
| YouTube reports an encoder start error | Stream key or encoder connection | Refresh the event’s key in Live Control Room and update the configured sender. |
| The encoder output looks healthy, but delivery fails | Outbound internet or, when applicable, RTMPS configuration | Test outbound connectivity; check URL, port, and RTMPS support only if the setup or error calls for it. |
If you need support, report the observed status or exact error and say whether the source feed reaches Livepush. Never include a stream key. For a connected-account failure, use Livepush’s help-center live chat; for login-based third-party streaming software, YouTube says to contact that software provider.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded video running as a 24/7 YouTube stream rather than troubleshoot an encoder sending a live source to Livepush, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. It streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start your free StreamNeo day.
