If Logitech G HUB will not open, first quit its background processes and restart LGHUBUpdaterService on Windows—or terminate lingering G HUB processes on macOS. Do not begin with a clean uninstall: it can erase local profiles, lighting settings, macros, and other customizations. Mac users should also check Logitech’s official certificate patch before removing anything.
Identify the failure first
“G HUB not opening” can mean several different problems:
- Nothing happens when you click G HUB.
- The app appears briefly and closes.
- The Logitech logo spins forever.
- G HUB is stuck on “Loading Applications” or “Loading Update Status.”
- The installer says G HUB is already installed.
- The problem started immediately after an application or operating-system update.
- G HUB opens normally, but your mouse, keyboard, headset, or receiver is missing.
The final symptom is a device-detection problem, not a launch failure, so use the separate section below.
Before you start
Save open work and disconnect nothing unnecessarily. Process restarts and a computer reboot should not delete profiles. Deleting G HUB folders is different: a clean reinstall can remove locally stored profiles and customizations. Back up any configuration you can still access before using the destructive steps.

Use only Logitech’s official G HUB download page. Avoid unofficial “old version” downloads unless Logitech support specifically directs you to one.
Windows: fix G HUB without deleting settings
1. Quit G HUB
- Right-click the G HUB icon in the system tray.
- Select Quit.
2. End the stuck processes
- Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select More details if necessary, then open Processes.
- End LGHUB Agent.
- End every visible instance of LGHUB.
For the normal spinning-logo repair, Logitech’s instructions say to leave LGHUB Updater running.
3. Restart the G HUB service
- In Task Manager, open Services.
- Find
LGHUBUpdaterService. - Right-click it and choose Restart.
- Wait about 10–15 seconds for its status to show Running.
- Launch G HUB from the Start menu.
Logitech documents this service restart for failures where the logo loops or loading never completes: G HUB freezes while loading.
4. Restart Windows
If G HUB still does not launch, reboot Windows before reinstalling. A restart clears processes and services that did not shut down correctly.
Windows: run the official installer’s repair
- Download the current installer from Logitech’s G HUB support page.
- Run the installer.
- If it detects the existing installation, choose Reinstall.
- Wait for the installation to finish, then open G HUB and check whether your device appears.
This is preferable to manually deleting data because it gives the existing installation a chance to repair itself.

Windows: perform a clean reinstall only if needed
Use this branch when the ordinary reinstall fails, the installer repeatedly reports that G HUB is already installed, or the installation is visibly damaged. This procedure deletes G HUB data and may remove local profiles and customizations.
- Open Task Manager and end these processes if present:
LGHUB.exe,lghub_agent.exe, andlghub_updater.exe. - In File Explorer’s address bar, enter
C:Users<YourUsername>AppDataRoamingLGHUBand delete the folder. - Delete
C:ProgramDataLGHUB. - Delete
C:ProgramDataold.LGHUBonly if it exists. - Restart Windows.
- Download and install G HUB again from Logitech.
AppData may be hidden, so entering the complete path is often easier than browsing to it. If Windows reports “Access Denied,” use an administrator account. If a folder cannot be deleted, restart Windows and try again.

If the installer or uninstall process is broken
In Windows 11, open Start → Settings → Apps → Installed apps, select G HUB, and try Advanced options → Repair if that option is available. Use Reset cautiously because application data may be removed; not every desktop app supports these options.
If Windows cannot uninstall G HUB because its registration data is damaged, use Microsoft’s Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter rather than deleting registry keys manually.

Logitech mentions temporarily disabling antivirus as an installation diagnostic. Only consider that briefly with an installer downloaded directly from Logitech, and re-enable protection immediately afterward.
macOS: check the January 2026 certificate issue first
On January 7, 2026, Logitech reported that an expired certificate caused G HUB and Options+ to stop launching on macOS. Logitech said Windows users were not affected. Because the in-app updater may also fail, the fix must be downloaded manually.

- Open Logitech’s certificate-issue support page.
- Download the G HUB patch from the official link. Logitech recommends Private/Incognito browsing or clearing the browser cache to ensure the newest patch downloads.
- Double-click the installer and approve the macOS administrator prompt.
- If it says “software already exists,” exit the installer.
- Open G HUB manually from Applications, Spotlight, or Launchpad.
Do not uninstall first. Logitech says this patch is intended to preserve settings, and the displayed version number may remain unchanged. Monterey users should use the Monterey-specific patch shown on Logitech’s support page, not the other macOS download blindly. macOS: terminate stuck G HUB processes
Use this branch when the certificate incident does not apply or G HUB is simply stuck running in the background.

- Right-click the G HUB menu-bar icon and select Quit G HUB.
- Press Cmd+Space, search for Activity Monitor, and open it.
- Search for
G HUB. - Force-quit Logitech G HUB Agent and Logitech G HUB.
- If processes remain, open Terminal and run Logitech’s documented command:
sudo pkill -f lghubEnter the Mac administrator password, wait about 10–15 seconds, and reopen G HUB. Save your work before using the command: it terminates processes matching the specified name pattern. Do not broaden it into unrelated deletion commands.

macOS: clean reinstall as the final fallback
Use this only after the certificate patch and process restart fail, or when the installation is clearly damaged. It can remove settings and customizations.
- Quit G HUB.
- Remove the application at
/Applications/lghub.app. - Remove these Logitech G HUB items if present:
/Users/Shared/LGHUB
/Library/Application Support/LGHUB
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.logi.ghub.plist
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.logi.ghub.updater.plist- Restart the Mac.
- Download the latest installer from Logitech.
- Reinstall G HUB and recreate profiles if necessary.
Logitech explicitly warns that Mac G HUB settings can be lost after uninstalling and reinstalling.

Stop following launch-failure steps if the G HUB window opens normally. Instead:
- Connect the receiver or device directly to the computer, bypassing an unpowered USB hub.
- Try another USB port.
- Disconnect and reconnect the wireless receiver.
- On Windows, check Windows Update and Device Manager for driver problems.
- Test the device on another computer if possible.
- Confirm that the exact model is supported by G HUB.
These are consistent with Microsoft’s mouse and keyboard troubleshooting guidance. A device that works but has no lighting, macros, or game profiles may have a G HUB profile-loading problem rather than a basic hardware failure. If the device supports onboard memory, its stored settings may still work, but not every Logitech product has onboard memory.

Important edge cases
It broke after an update
The timing may indicate an incomplete or damaged update, but it does not prove that the update itself is the cause. On Windows, use the process/service restart, reboot, and current installer’s Reinstall option. On macOS, apply the official certificate patch first if the failure matches the January 2026 incident. Avoid unofficial older installers.
It works only after rebooting
That pattern commonly indicates a process or service that is not shutting down or starting correctly. Check whether restarting LGHUBUpdaterService reproduces the recovery before resorting to a clean reinstall.
Can Logitech Gaming Software replace G HUB?
Not universally. Compatibility depends on the device and operating system, and older Logitech software may not support newer products. Check the exact device’s official compatibility information instead of treating Logitech Gaming Software as a guaranteed replacement.
When to contact Logitech
Contact Logitech support if G HUB still fails after the official repair or clean-reinstall path. Include your Windows or macOS version, G HUB version if known, device model, exact error text, whether the failure began after an update, and the steps you already tried. This is more useful than repeatedly reinstalling or using third-party “fix” utilities.

Will reinstalling G HUB erase my profiles?
The repair/reinstall option may preserve existing data, but Logitech’s clean folder-removal procedures can delete local profiles, macros, lighting settings, and other customizations. Back up what you can before deleting folders.
Should I download an older G HUB version?
No, not as a standard fix. Use Logitech’s current installer unless Logitech support provides a specific compatible build.
Does a G HUB launch failure mean my Logitech device is defective?
Not necessarily. A stuck process, service, certificate, update, or damaged installation can prevent G HUB from opening even when the hardware works.
