What you get for around $29
The G305’s value rests on a useful mix of gaming-focused specifications and straightforward hardware: Logitech’s HERO optical sensor, LIGHTSPEED 2.4 GHz wireless, six programmable buttons and onboard memory for one hardware profile. The listed mouse weight is 75 g before the AA battery, so the complete mouse weighs more once powered.

How fast is the G305?
Logitech specifies a 1 ms report rate, equivalent to 1,000 Hz. That is the mouse’s reporting interval specification—not an independent measurement of end-to-end wireless latency. Logitech describes LIGHTSPEED, its 2.4 GHz wireless technology, as delivering wired-like performance; that phrasing is the company’s positioning rather than a separate test result.

The HERO optical sensor offers software-adjustable sensitivity from 200 to 12,000 DPI. Logitech says it tracks without smoothing, filtering or acceleration. DPI is a sensitivity setting, not a direct measure of accuracy or speed: most players will choose a setting that suits their preference and game rather than simply selecting the maximum. Battery life and the AA trade-off
The G305 takes one replaceable AA battery. Logitech rates it for up to 250 hours of non-stop gaming in performance mode. That is a manufacturer’s maximum rating, not a guarantee for every setup or usage pattern. The mouse also has an endurance mode, but Logitech’s specifications do not establish one universal runtime for it: battery life depends on the selected settings and use.

A replaceable AA is convenient if you want to swap cells instead of waiting for a mouse to recharge, and rechargeable AA cells are an option for owners who prefer not to use disposables. The trade-off is that you supply and eventually replace or recharge the battery; the G305’s documented power design is not an internal USB-rechargeable battery.
Controls, weight and setup
- Six programmable buttons: Logitech lists six buttons that can be configured.
- One onboard profile: The mouse has onboard memory for one hardware profile.
- 75 g before the battery: This is Logitech’s listed mouse weight without its AA cell, not the total ready-to-use weight.
- Wireless receiver: LIGHTSPEED uses a 2.4 GHz connection; the 1 ms figure is the report rate Logitech specifies.
Those specifications make the G305 a practical fit for someone seeking programmable controls and a low-cost wireless setup. Buyers who prioritize an ultralight total weight should account for the battery rather than treating 75 g as the weight in use.

Should you buy it at $29?
At a verified price of about $29.99, the G305 is an appealing budget gaming mouse if you are comfortable with AA power and want Logitech’s stated 1 ms reporting, adjustable HERO sensor and programmable buttons. The price is the deciding condition: the retailer listing is time-sensitive, so compare the current price and the cost of your preferred AA batteries before ordering. At a substantially higher price, weigh those costs against mice with internal charging or other features you value; this specification set alone does not establish how the G305 compares with a particular rival.
