If your Logitech G920 is not working on Xbox, start with the physical connection: confirm it is the Xbox-compatible G920, connect its power adapter directly to a wall outlet, plug USB directly into the console, reseat the pedal cable, and relaunch the game after the wheel calibrates. If it works in one game but not another, the problem is probably compatibility or configuration. If it will not power on or calibrate across multiple devices, hardware failure becomes more likely.
The G920 is compatible with Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The similar-looking G29 is designed for PlayStation consoles and PC, not Xbox. Logitech confirms the platform differences here.

Quick five-minute fix
- Check the model. Look at the label, box, or product number. You need a G920 for Xbox; a G29 is the PlayStation/PC model.
- Connect power directly to the wall. Do not rely on a loose power strip or surge protector while testing. Check the adapter connection at the wall and at the wheel base.
- Connect USB directly to the Xbox. Try another console USB port and remove hubs, extensions, and adapters. Logitech specifically recommends a direct connection and another Xbox port in its Xbox troubleshooting checklist.
- Reseat the pedal cable. It connects to the wheel base, not directly to the Xbox.
- Power-cycle the setup. Turn off the Xbox or place it in standby, disconnect USB and power, reconnect power directly to the wall, reconnect USB directly to the console, then start the Xbox.
- Wait for calibration. The wheel should rotate through its startup movement and return to center. The G920 guide describes this left-and-right calibration routine.
- Fully quit and relaunch the game. Do not simply resume a suspended title. Launch it after the wheel has calibrated.
- Test another supported racing game. Wheel support is title-specific; not every Xbox racing game supports the G920 or all of its force-feedback features.
First identify what “not working” means
These symptoms point to different parts of the setup:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems| Symptom | Start by checking |
|---|---|
| No lights and no calibration movement | Wall outlet, power adapter, power connection, and cables |
| Light is on but calibration does not complete | USB connection, alternate console port, power stability, and hardware |
| Calibration works but a game has no input | Game support, profile assignment, relaunching, and control mapping |
| Steering works but pedals do not | Pedal connector, pedal mapping, dead zones, and the pedal assembly |
| Input works but force feedback does not | Game support, force-feedback settings, and power |
| It disconnects or repeatedly recenters | USB and power connections, damaged cables, and cross-device testing |
If the G920 has no light or does not calibrate
The G920 needs both USB and external power. USB alone may not provide what the wheel needs for its motors and force feedback. Inspect the power plug at the wheel base, the adapter cable, and the outlet. Try a different wall outlet, then reconnect everything without a hub or extension.

Use the original adapter or a Logitech-approved replacement. Do not choose an arbitrary adapter merely because its connector fits; its electrical specifications and connector must match the wheel.
If the light comes on but the wheel does not move, disconnect both power and USB, wait briefly, reconnect power directly to the wall, and then connect USB directly to another Xbox port. A damaged USB cable, unreliable console port, interrupted power connection, or internal electronics can all produce this symptom.
A completed calibration proves that the wheel can perform its startup routine; it does not prove that the game supports or has configured the wheel. Conversely, failure to calibrate on every tested device is stronger evidence of a power, cable, adapter, or internal hardware problem.
If Xbox input works but the game does not
There is no universal requirement for every Xbox game to support the G920. Logitech’s racing-wheel materials state that the game must support Logitech force-feedback racing wheels. Check the individual title’s current compatibility information, then:
- Install pending Xbox system and game updates.
- Fully quit the game and relaunch it after the wheel calibrates.
- Open the game’s controls or input settings and select the wheel if that option exists.
- Bind steering, throttle, brake, and buttons manually if automatic detection fails.
- Check steering range, sensitivity, dead zones, and pedal inversion.
- Confirm that the wheel is assigned to the active player and signed-in Xbox profile.
Test another supported game before changing advanced settings. If the wheel works there, the original title’s support or configuration is the leading explanation—not necessarily a defective G920.
If only the pedals fail
- Turn off the console and disconnect the wheel.
- Firmly reconnect the pedal plug to the wheel base.
- Inspect the connector and cable for bent pins, looseness, cuts, or crushed sections.
- In the game, manually assign throttle and brake axes.
- Check whether a large dead zone, inverted axis, or unusual sensitivity setting makes the pedals appear unresponsive.
- Test the complete setup in another compatible game or on a Windows PC if available.
If the pedals fail everywhere while steering and buttons work, the pedal cable or pedal assembly is more suspect than the Xbox USB port. Xbox games generally provide their own input and dead-zone controls; do not assume there is a universal Xbox calibration utility for the G920.

- PREMIUM BUILD: Look, feel and durability of a real race car wheel, pedals and shifter. Wheel cover, knob and boot are covered in high-quality, hand-stitched leather with a solid steel gear shaft and polished metal pedals
If steering works but force feedback does not
Basic steering, pedals, and buttons can function while force feedback is disabled. Check that the game supports force feedback and that its force-feedback strength and related effects are enabled. Some titles accept wheel input without supporting the motor effects.
Also verify the power connection. The G920 is a dual-motor force-feedback wheel, but the motors depend on the external power adapter. Missing force feedback in one title is not proof that the wheel is broken. If it disappears in every supported game and the power connection is secure, continue with the cross-device tests below.
Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
Logitech lists the G920 as compatible with both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The supplied evidence does not establish a different required firmware or connection procedure for the two console generations, so do not assume that a special console-specific firmware update is necessary.
The same basic isolation method applies to either console: direct wall power, direct USB, another console port, a fully relaunched game, current system and game updates, and a second supported title.
Should you install G HUB or update firmware?
Do not treat Logitech G HUB as a required Xbox application or a guaranteed fix for Xbox detection. A Windows PC can still be useful for diagnostics or for support-directed procedures, but Xbox does not use G HUB as its normal configuration application.

Logitech’s current Xbox support page says that the tool is no longer supported or maintained. If Logitech Support specifically directs you to a current firmware procedure, follow the instructions for your exact operating system and device; otherwise, do not download third-party firmware utilities or rely on obsolete tools.

Test the wheel on another device
Use controlled substitution so each test answers a specific question:
- Try another wall outlet to test the power path.
- Try another Xbox USB port to test the console connection.
- Remove all hubs, extensions, and adapters.
- Try another supported game to test title compatibility.
- Try another Xbox if one is available.
- Test the complete setup on a Windows PC if available.
| Result | What it suggests |
|---|---|
| Fails on every outlet, game, and device | Likely adapter, cable, pedal, wheel electronics, or other hardware fault |
| Works on PC but not Xbox | Investigate Xbox connection, game support, profile assignment, or console-specific behavior |
| Works in one game but not another | Likely game support, mapping, updates, or in-game settings |
| Wheel works but pedals fail everywhere | Likely pedal cable or pedal assembly |
| Input works but force feedback fails everywhere | Check supported titles, settings, power, then suspect the motor system if the fault persists |
| Works on Xbox but not PC | Investigate the PC’s USB behavior, drivers, or software separately |
When it is probably hardware failure
Hardware failure becomes a reasonable conclusion when the G920 repeatedly fails to power on, calibrate, or deliver input after you have tried multiple outlets, Xbox USB ports, supported games, and—where possible—another Xbox or PC. Repeated pedal failure across devices points to the pedal hardware; a completely dead wheel points more broadly to the adapter, cable, base, or internal electronics.
Before buying another wheel, contact Logitech Support and check warranty eligibility. Logitech’s product page lists a two-year limited hardware warranty, but eligibility depends on the purchase date, region, seller, and warranty terms.
Fixes not to waste time on
- Do not diagnose the wheel from a flashing light alone unless Logitech documents that specific code.
- Do not use a USB hub while troubleshooting.
- Do not assume the Xbox Accessories app must detect the G920; the supplied official sources do not establish that as a universal requirement.
- Do not install obsolete or third-party firmware tools as a default fix.
- Do not buy a replacement adapter without verifying its electrical and connector requirements.
- Do not replace the wheel before testing another game and, if possible, another device.
Final checklist
Correct model → direct wall power → direct Xbox USB → reseat power, USB, and pedal cables → allow calibration → fully relaunch the game → verify game support and settings → test another game or device → use warranty or consider replacement.
If the G920 works in another title, focus on that game’s mappings and compatibility. If it fails everywhere after the controlled tests, stop changing software settings and pursue Logitech support, warranty service, or a replacement.
