logo.dll is not a standard Windows component. A logo.dll error usually means that a third-party application that installed the file is damaged, incomplete, blocked by antivirus software, or no longer compatible with Windows.
The strongest known association is WinTuning Logo Images, used by CWTuning Software’s WinTuning utilities. However, logo.dll is not a unique filename. Another application can use the same name, so the full path and program named in the error matter more than the filename alone.

First identify which program owns logo.dll
Do not begin by downloading a replacement file. First find the application that is trying to load it.
Check the error window
Read the title bar and the first sentence of the error. The application name may appear before the message, for example:

- “

If the error appears immediately after starting WinTuning, or if the file belongs to a WinTuning installation folder, WinTuning is the likely owner. Do not assume that every logo.dll error comes from WinTuning.
Search the application’s own folder
- Press Windows key + E.
- Open the folder where the affected program is installed.
- Use the search box in the upper-right corner and enter
logo.dll. - Right-click any result and select Open file location.
- Note the complete path and the executable files in that folder.
A file beside the program’s main executable is more meaningful than a copy found in C:WindowsSystem32 or another unrelated directory. Multiple logo.dll files can be legitimate because the basename is not globally unique.
If you cannot identify the application, check Settings > Apps > Installed apps for recently installed or recently removed utilities. Also inspect shortcuts:
- Right-click the program’s shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, read Target.
- Use that folder as the starting point for your search.
Fix 1: Repair or reinstall the owning application
This is the safest and most likely solution. The installer should restore the correct DLL beside the executable that needs it and replace any related files that were damaged.

On Windows 11:
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Apps > Installed apps.
- Find the program named in the error.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Advanced options, if available.
- Select Repair.
- Restart Windows and launch the program again.
If Repair does not solve the problem, return to the same screen and use Reset only if you understand that it may remove the application’s settings or stored data.
Traditional desktop programs may instead provide their own repair option:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
appwiz.cpland press Enter. - Select the affected program.
- Choose Change, Repair, or Uninstall/Change, depending on what the installer offers.
- Follow the repair wizard.
- Restart Windows and test the program.
Microsoft also documents repair and removal steps for applications that do not install or uninstall correctly in its program repair guidance.
Reinstall when repair is unavailable
If the program is old, damaged, or only partially removed:
- Save any settings or project files belonging to the application.
- Uninstall it from Settings > Apps > Installed apps, or from Control Panel > Programs and Features.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall it using the original installer, installation media, or a package obtained directly from the software developer.
- Start the program from its normal shortcut.
For an old WinTuning installation, the original installer may no longer be available. Do not replace it with a random logo.dll download. If you cannot obtain a trustworthy installer, removing the obsolete application may be safer than forcing a loose DLL into Windows.
If reinstalling does not help, check whether security software removes the file again, whether the installer completed successfully, and whether the error now names a different missing dependency.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software may have quarantined or removed the file. This does not prove that the file was safe or that the detection was a false positive. Verify its source before restoring anything.
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Review recent detections.
- Open any entry that identifies
logo.dllor the affected application. - Check the file path and the action taken.
Restore the file only when all of the following are true:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- The path belongs to the application you identified.
- The application came from a trustworthy source.
- The file has a verifiable publisher or digital signature where applicable.
- You have checked that the detection is not a genuine threat.
Microsoft explains these decisions in its Protection History guidance. If you are uncertain, leave the file quarantined and reinstall the application from its original trusted source instead.

After reinstalling, update Windows Security and run a full scan:

- Choose Scan options.

Never disable antivirus protection simply to make a DLL load.
Fix 3: Check the file path and 32-bit compatibility
A commonly indexed WinTuning copy of logo.dll is reported as a 32-bit file. That does not make it incompatible with 64-bit Windows. A 64-bit version of Windows routinely runs 32-bit desktop applications.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe important match is:
- A 32-bit application should receive the 32-bit DLL intended for it.
- A 64-bit application should receive the 64-bit file supplied by its installer.
- The file should normally be restored to the application’s own installation directory.
Do not copy a 64-bit DLL into a 32-bit program folder, or move a 32-bit DLL into System32 or SysWOW64 to guess your way past the error. Those folders are not general-purpose storage for application files, and a wrong replacement can create new loader failures.
To inspect a file:
- Right-click
logo.dll. - Select Properties.
- Open the Details tab.
- Review the description, company, and version fields if present.
- Open the Digital Signatures tab if it exists.
- Use Signature Details to check whether the signature validates.
Reported version and size information for this filename comes from third-party inventories and should not be treated as an official specification. The original application installer remains the correct source.
Fix 4: Install only a dependency named by the error
logo.dll is not the name of a Visual C++ runtime, DirectX component, or .NET runtime. Installing all three at random usually does not recreate this file.
Read the complete error carefully. Install a prerequisite only when:
- The application’s documentation names it.
- The installer requests it.
- A subsequent error explicitly identifies that runtime.
For example, if the repaired application reports a missing Visual C++ runtime, use Microsoft’s latest supported Visual C++ Redistributable packages. A 32-bit application may require the x86 package even when Windows itself is 64-bit.
Restart the program after installing the named prerequisite. If the same logo.dll message remains, return to repairing or reinstalling the owning application rather than adding unrelated runtimes.
Fix 5: Repair Windows components only when Windows itself is damaged
SFC and DISM are useful when Windows has broader corruption, such as several built-in tools failing, damaged system features, or errors appearing across unrelated applications. They are not a dependable way to restore a third-party logo.dll.
First run DISM from an elevated Command Prompt:
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Wait for it to finish. Then run:
sfc /scannow
Restart Windows when both commands complete and test the application again. Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC in its System File Checker instructions.

Fix 6: Use System Restore for a clear system-wide regression
System Restore is worth considering when the failure began immediately after installing or removing software and a suitable restore point exists.

Fix 7: Update drivers only when the error points to a driver
A logo.dll message alone is not evidence of a driver problem. Do not update every driver as a first response. Consider this path only if the full error names a display, audio, storage, or other device component, or if the application fails alongside device errors.
To check a device:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the category related to the reported device.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
For a graphics or specialized device, obtain the driver from the hardware manufacturer when Windows does not find one. Outbyte Driver Updater can show which installed drivers are stale when manually checking many device categories becomes repetitive; its free scan identifies outdated drivers, while installation is handled by the full version. It is not a substitute for reinstalling the program that owns logo.dll.
What not to do
Do not download a random DLL
Avoid DLL download sites and unsolicited file attachments. A loose replacement may contain malware, belong to a different application, use the wrong architecture, or fail because another dependency is missing. It can also hide the fact that the application installation is damaged.
Use the original developer installer, original installation media, or a verified backup from that same program. Copying a DLL manually is appropriate only when the developer explicitly supplies that exact file and installation instructions.
Do not copy logo.dll into System32
Do not place an arbitrary copy in:
C:WindowsSystem32
or:
C:WindowsSysWOW64
That can create version conflicts and expose other applications to the wrong file. Restore the file beside the executable that requests it.
Do not use regsvr32 automatically
Running:
regsvr32 logo.dll
usually does not apply. regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer, commonly used by COM or ActiveX components. An image or resource DLL used privately by an application may not support registration.
Use it only when the software developer specifically instructs you to register that file. Microsoft documents the command’s behavior in its regsvr32 reference.
FAQ
Is logo.dll part of Windows?
There is no verified basis for treating this filename as a Windows System32 or SysWOW64 component. It is associated with third-party applications, including WinTuning in commonly indexed records.
Is every logo.dll from WinTuning?
No. The filename is not unique. S4LTweaks and other unrelated Windows software have also used the same basename. Identify the requesting executable and full file path.
Why does Windows say the specified module could not be found when the file is visible?
The named DLL may be present but unable to load because a dependent file is missing, the architecture is wrong, the file is damaged, or security software removed another component. Repair the owning application and read the complete error for the actual missing dependency.
What does “not designed to run on Windows” mean?
Windows rejected the file as invalid, damaged, incompatible, or incorrectly matched to the program. Reinstall the owning application from its original source. Do not force the file to load with regsvr32.
Should I install Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET?
Only if the application or a later error explicitly names that prerequisite. Those packages do not normally recreate logo.dll.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Why did the error begin after uninstalling or cleaning software?
The uninstaller or cleanup utility may have removed a shared startup entry, left a shortcut behind, or damaged the remaining installation. Remove the obsolete shortcut or reinstall the application cleanly. If the software is no longer available, replace it rather than restoring an unverified DLL.
How do I know the repair worked?
Restart Windows, launch the original application from its normal shortcut, and confirm that it opens without the logo.dll message. If another DLL or runtime is then named, address that new dependency through the application’s official installer or documentation.
