Longdue unveiled the debut teaser for Hopetown and announced that its Kickstarter campaign would launch on March 17, 2025, according to VentureBeat’s report published March 11, 2025. That campaign date has passed; the announcement introduced an in-development narrative RPG, not a release date or an official Disco Elysium sequel.
What Longdue announced
VentureBeat reported on March 11, 2025, that Longdue had released Hopetown’s debut teaser and planned to open a Kickstarter campaign on March 17, 2025. The report said the campaign’s pre-launch page listed a limited set of early-backer rewards. Those details describe the announcement at the time; March 17, 2025 is a past date, not an upcoming campaign launch. VentureBeat’s announcement report.

What is Hopetown about?
Longdue describes Hopetown as a narrative-first, choice-driven RPG about a journalist investigating a mystery in a mining town. The game site says the journalist uses photography, interviews, observations and publishing choices as the investigation unfolds. The official game site.
The studio’s description places the town on the edge of collapse and reinvention. Its story materials say mining operations have halted after an incident, leaving people dead or missing, and frame the player’s decisions around what to uncover, conceal or publish. Longdue says choices and words can affect alliances, emotions and the shape of reality. Longdue calls the game “psychogeographic,” a term that signals its emphasis on how a place, its history and its social tensions shape the story. In practical terms, the official descriptions put investigative journalism and consequential decisions at the center of the premise.
Why is Hopetown called a spiritual successor to Disco Elysium?
“Spiritual successor” describes a perceived creative relationship, not an official sequel or a stated continuation of Disco Elysium’s story. Longdue’s Kickstarter FAQ explicitly says, “To be clear, we’re not specifically honouring the legacy of any one game.” It identifies psychological complexity, intelligent storytelling, rich interiority and seismic conversations as touchstones the studio shares with Disco Elysium. There is also contributor overlap beyond the writing team. VentureBeat’s March 2025 report named narrator performer Lenval Brown, Piotr Sobolewski and Martin Luiga, and said nine people who had worked on Disco Elysium had contributed to Hopetown at that point. That nine-person figure is an announcement-era count, not a current staffing total. VentureBeat’s report.
Longdue’s site describes Martin Luiga as a founding member of the ZA/UM Cultural Association and a writer of seven Disco Elysium characters. VentureBeat quoted Brown saying, “It feels good to be back—to step into something new,” and describing the appeal of bringing a world to life and giving voice to a story. In its Kickstarter FAQ, Longdue names PC as the main development platform and says PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are also planned. The same answer describes Mac, Linux and other consoles as possibilities the studio hopes to support, not confirmed versions. The platform answer was last updated March 15, 2026. Kickstarter FAQ.

Longdue says the game is being made in Unity, will include voice acting, and is planned to launch with English, Russian and Simplified Chinese support.
