Early impressions of Lost Soul Aside raised concerns about stuttering, frame rate and image clarity on PS5, but they were not controlled tests. Reviews arrived later: the cited independent review covers the PC version, not PS5. PlayStation published the game, which was developed by Ultizero Games; it is available on PS5 and PC.
Why were there few reviews before launch?
On August 26, 2025, Notebookcheck reported that Western media previews had been sparse and relayed impressions from a player with an early copy. That timing explains the headline’s “before reviews” framing: it described the pre-release situation, not the state of coverage after launch. Notebookcheck’s report should be read as an account of one player’s experience, not a representative PS5 performance test.

What did the early PS5 player report?
The player said graphics mode often dropped below 30 fps, stuttered, and looked blurrier than expected. Performance mode, which aimed for 60 fps, felt much smoother to that player, although they found texture quality uneven in both modes. They also described awkward camera movement and walking animation. Their impression grew more positive over time, and they thought performance improved after the early sections.

What did the developer say about launch-day stuttering?
On August 29, 2025, GameSpot reported that the developer attributed stuttering in some prologue cutscenes to pre-rendered video at 4K and 30 frames per second. The team said it was “actively working on optimizations, and future updates will address this to deliver a smoother gameplay experience.” GameSpot’s launch-day report limits that explanation to some prologue cutscenes; it does not show that every performance complaint had the same cause or that all issues were subsequently fixed.
What did later reviews find?
TechRadar later reviewed the PC version. Reviewer George Yang reported 23 hours of play and completion of the main campaign, using an Xbox Wireless Controller. The review praised the action and visuals, while criticizing the story’s depth and PC stuttering. Yang’s stated system had an AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT and 32 GB of RAM. This is evidence about one PC playthrough, not a PS5 test. The available evidence does not establish a controlled PS5-versus-PC comparison or a patch-by-patch performance history, so it cannot settle which platform runs better.

Steam displayed 1,308 user reviews, with 59% positive and an overall “Mixed” label on October 8, 2026. The Steam listing reflects opinions from Steam users, not critics or PS5 owners. Its count and rating can change, and should be checked on the store page for the latest snapshot.

What official platform details matter?
PC requirements and DualSense support
In an August 22, 2025 PlayStation Blog post, the developer listed a GTX 1060 or AMD RX 5500 XT and 16 GB of RAM as the PC minimum. The published GPU tiers extend to an RTX 5070 Ti for the Ultra ray-tracing tier; the post listed 16 GB of RAM across the table. These are published requirements, not a promise of stable performance on every system. Check the current store listing before buying hardware. The PC version supports DualSense over USB-C or Bluetooth, with full functionality requiring USB-C; adaptive triggers and haptic feedback are supported. PS5 Pro features
The same PlayStation post describes PS5 Pro features including dynamic 4K, enhanced ray-traced reflections, shadows and global illumination, and a higher, more stable frame rate. These are developer-published feature claims, not independent benchmark results.

Should you wait for reviews or patches?
If you need confirmed PS5 performance before buying, the cited evidence is not enough to make that call: the early PS5 account is anecdotal, the launch statement concerns some cutscenes, and the later review is for PC. Look for a current review or performance test that identifies its platform, graphics mode, hardware where relevant, and patch state. If you already own the game, selecting performance mode is the setting the early player found smoother, but that report does not guarantee the same result for every player or current build.

For PC, compare your system with the published requirements and use current store information; a listed minimum does not guarantee smooth performance. A PC player who wants the game’s documented DualSense features can use a compatible controller, but controller support is unrelated to the reported stuttering.
