Roblox disputes the state’s characterization and says it has safety policies and features. Those are opposing claims—not court findings—and the available sources do not establish the lawsuit’s current procedural status.
What Louisiana alleges in its lawsuit
The Louisiana Attorney General announced that the state filed a lawsuit against Roblox Corporation in the 21st Judicial District Court in Livingston Parish. The state’s petition alleges that Roblox facilitated the distribution of child sexual abuse material and the sexual exploitation of Louisiana minors. It also claims the company failed to implement basic safety controls or adequately warn parents and children about risks.
Attorney General Liz Murrill characterized the platform as dangerous to children, saying: “Due to Roblox’s lack of safety protocols, it endangers the safety of the children of Louisiana. Roblox is overrun with harmful content and child predators because it prioritizes user growth, revenue, and profits over child safety.” This is the Attorney General’s allegation-based statement, not a court’s conclusion. Louisiana Attorney General’s announcement and the state’s petition describe the claims.
How Roblox responded
In a response published August 15, 2025, Roblox disputed the lawsuit’s characterization and said the platform has safety features and policies. The company’s response presents its own position; it is not an independent audit of those measures or a judicial assessment of whether they are effective. What is established—and what is not
The official announcement and filed petition establish that Louisiana brought the case and what the state alleges. They do not establish that Roblox committed the alleged conduct. Roblox’s public response likewise establishes the company’s stated position, not the truth or effectiveness of its claims about safety.
The available sources do not establish whether the state case has since been dismissed, settled, or decided. A separate federal Louisiana case involving a private personal-injury action is not the state’s lawsuit and cannot confirm its status. The state-court docket is needed for a procedural update.
