Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchThe lxkpclui.dll error usually means an older Lexmark printer driver or PCL plug-in is damaged, incomplete, or being loaded with the wrong component. The safest fix is to remove the affected Lexmark printer software and reinstall the complete, compatible driver package rather than downloading this DLL separately.
What is lxkpclui.dll?
lxkpclui.dll is associated with the Lexmark PCL Plug-in UI, a component used by older Lexmark Windows printer-driver software. It is a printer configuration component, not a standard Windows file.
There is no reliable evidence that lxkpclui.dll ships with Windows, DirectX, .NET, or the Visual C++ redistributable. The exact Lexmark printer model that installed it cannot be identified from the filename alone.
Public file records also disagree about its version and architecture. Some identify a 32-bit record, while another reports a 64-bit PE record. Treat those details as installation-specific. Do not replace a missing file with a copy from a different driver package.
#1 Best Overall
- SMALL: Compact printer fits almost anywhere (8. 7 x 14. 5 x 14. 3 inches / 222 x 368 x 363 millimeter).
The error may appear when opening:
- Printer properties
- A print dialog
- A Lexmark configuration utility
- A legacy print queue
- A spooler-related driver component
A “module not found” error can also mean that a dependency required by lxkpclui.dll is missing. The named DLL is not always the only damaged component.
The 60-second answer
- Write down the exact Lexmark printer model.
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the affected printer and choose Remove.
- Download the matching Windows driver from Lexmark’s official support site.
- Install the complete model-specific package or compatible Lexmark Universal Print Driver.
- Restart Windows.
- Open Printer properties and print a test page.
Do not copy lxkpclui.dll into C:WindowsSystem32, C:WindowsSysWOW64, or an application folder. A loose DLL may have the wrong version, architecture, dependencies, or embedded malware.
Why the error usually appears
The most likely causes are:
- A failed or partial Lexmark driver installation
- Printer software removed during cleanup
- A driver update that left old components behind
- A 32-bit and 64-bit driver mismatch
- Antivirus quarantine
- A damaged print queue or driver store
- Corrupted Windows components
- A suspicious replacement file in an unusual directory
The exact path shown in the error matters. A file under a Lexmark or printer-driver directory is more consistent with the expected installation than an unrelated copy in a temporary folder or user-download directory.
Fix 1: Remove and reinstall the Lexmark driver
This is the primary fix because the file belongs to printer software.
Step 1: Check Windows architecture
- Press Windows + I.
- Select System > About.
- Look at System type.
- Note whether Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit.
A 32-bit printer UI can still be required by an older print queue on 64-bit Windows. Installing only a newer 64-bit package may not repair that legacy queue.
Step 2: Remove the printer
- Press Windows + I.
- Open Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Choose the affected Lexmark printer.
- Select Remove.
- Confirm the removal.
Disconnect the printer temporarily if the installer repeatedly detects an incomplete existing setup.
Step 3: Remove the old driver package if necessary
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
control printers. - Press Enter.
- Select any printer in the window.
- Choose Print server properties from the toolbar or menu.
- Open the Drivers tab.
- Select the obsolete Lexmark driver.
- Choose Remove.
- Select Remove driver and driver package when offered.
- Restart Windows.
Do not remove a driver used by another working printer unless you have confirmed that it is obsolete. Multiple Lexmark PCL, PostScript, and model-specific packages can coexist.

- Type

- Right-click it and select Stop.
- Remove the old driver package.
- Return to Print Spooler.
- Right-click it and select Start.
Step 4: Install the correct package
Download the driver from the exact printer model’s Lexmark support page, or use a compatible Lexmark Universal Print Driver. Choose the package matching your Windows architecture and the printer language in use, such as PCL 5, PCL XL/PCL 6, PostScript, or the model-specific package.
Lexmark’s current driver packages may not contain the exact legacy filename lxkpclui.dll. That does not make them unsafe or incomplete. The goal is to replace the old driver component with a supported complete package, not to preserve one particular DLL.
Run the installer, restart Windows, and test Printer properties followed by Print Test Page.
If the error returns immediately, remove the queue and driver package again. You may be dealing with an incompatible legacy package or a second stale Lexmark driver still registered in the driver store.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhen hunting through several driver packages and checking which one matches your printer and Windows architecture becomes repetitive, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers and show what needs attention; its full version performs the driver installation. Reinstalling the correct Lexmark package remains the definitive fix for this file.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Windows Defender may have quarantined a driver component, but restoring a file solely because its name matches lxkpclui.dll is unsafe.
- Open the Start menu.
- Type Windows Security.
- Open it.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Review entries related to the printer installation.
- Expand the detection and inspect the original file path and publisher.
- If the file is identified as malicious, leave it quarantined.
- Run Scan options > Full scan.
If a legitimate Lexmark component was removed, reinstall the complete driver from Lexmark rather than restoring an isolated DLL. Microsoft explains the Protection History process in its Windows Security guidance.

A genuine file should be in the expected driver installation location and have a valid publisher signature where one is provided. An unexplained copy in a temporary folder deserves further scanning.
Fix 3: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
These commands repair protected Windows files. They do not normally restore a third-party Lexmark driver DLL, so use them after checking the printer package.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click it.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows when both commands complete.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC in its system file repair procedure.
If SFC reports that it repaired files, test the printer again. If it reports no integrity violations but lxkpclui.dll is still missing, return to the Lexmark driver reinstall rather than repeating SFC.
If you would rather avoid repeatedly running repair commands without knowing what changed, Outbyte PC Repair can scan Windows for reported problems; its full version performs the repair. It is optional, and it does not replace reinstalling the Lexmark software that owns this DLL.
Fix 4: Check for a driver or Windows update regression
If printing stopped directly after an update:
- Open Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Choose Check for updates.
- Install compatible updates.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the current Lexmark driver afterward.
Microsoft recommends obtaining printer drivers through Windows Update or the printer manufacturer’s official site in its printer-driver guidance.
Do not mix files from an old Lexmark package with files from a newer one. A mismatched dependency can create an entry-point error or the “not designed to run on Windows” message.
Fix 5: Reinstall the printer through Device Manager
Device Manager can remove a stale device entry, but it is not a substitute for installing the correct Lexmark package.

- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers, Print queues, and Universal Serial Bus controllers if the printer is connected by USB.
- Right-click the affected Lexmark entry.
- Select Uninstall device.
- If Windows offers to remove the driver, select that option only when you have confirmed it is the obsolete package.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the official Lexmark driver.
- Add the printer again under Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
Windows Features are generally not the solution for this error. Do not enable random legacy components or install a runtime unless a separate application error specifically identifies that runtime.

Fix 6: Use System Restore for a recent failure
Use System Restore only when the printer worked recently and the failure clearly followed a driver or software change.
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
rstrui.exe. - Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point from before the driver change.
- Select Scan for affected programs.
- Review the list.
- Select Finish to begin the restore.
System Restore rolls back system files, registry settings, and installed programs but normally does not remove personal files. Microsoft documents the process in its System Restore guidance.
Afterward, reinstall the correct Lexmark driver if the printer is no longer configured.

may produce an error saying that the entry point DllRegisterServer was not found. That result does not repair the printer driver. Microsoft describes Regsvr32 as a registration utility, not a general DLL repair command.
Do not download the file from random DLL websites or copy it into System32, SysWOW64, or an application directory. The replacement may be malicious, incompatible, or missing its dependencies. It can also create DLL-preloading risks. Use the complete Lexmark installer instead.

FAQ
Is lxkpclui.dll a Windows system file?
No reliable evidence shows that it ships with Windows itself. It is associated with older Lexmark PCL printer-driver software.
Which printer installed it?
The filename alone does not identify an exact printer model. Older Lexmark PCL plug-in and driver packages are the relevant source.
Is lxkpclui.dll 32-bit or 64-bit?
Public records conflict. Check the architecture of the installed Lexmark package and replace the complete package rather than guessing from an online file record.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Does a game require lxkpclui.dll?
No reliable evidence connects this file to a specific game. If a game reports it, verify the full error path because the wrong file may be named or a dependency may be missing.
Should I install Visual C++ or DirectX?
Not as the first response. This is primarily a Lexmark printer-driver problem, not a verified Microsoft runtime problem.
Where should the file be located?
Use the existing Lexmark driver’s installation location or Windows driver store. Do not assume it belongs in System32; Windows searches multiple locations when loading DLLs, as explained in Microsoft’s DLL search-order documentation.
What is the definitive fix?
Remove the affected Lexmark printer and obsolete driver package, then install the correct complete Lexmark driver for the printer model and Windows architecture.
