Madden NFL 25 was the best-selling game in the United States in August 2024, with EA Sports College Football 25 at No. 2. The result gave EA football games consecutive monthly wins: College Football 25 led July, then Madden took August. Madden also topped the reported PlayStation and Xbox charts.
Which game sold best in August 2024?
Circana’s U.S. dollar-sales ranking, as reported by GamesBeat on October 11, 2024, put Madden NFL 25 first. The top five were:

The MVP Bundle included both Madden NFL 25 and College Football 25, so its fourth-place position is relevant context: the chart includes a bundle as a separate entry, and the ranking alone cannot show how many sales came from individual copies of either game. GamesBeat’s report says Madden also led the PlayStation and Xbox platform-specific lists.
Did Madden or College Football lead the chart?
They led in different months. College Football 25 was No. 1 in July 2024, and Madden NFL 25 took the top spot in August. Thus, “two months in a row” refers to consecutive monthly victories by EA football games—not to one title topping both months.

The report also says Madden topped the U.S. chart in its release month for the 25th consecutive year. That streak refers to Madden’s release-month chart performance, not an uninterrupted run as the year’s best-selling game.
What does “sales” mean in this ranking?
The August list ranks dollar sales, not copies sold. It combines physical sales and full-game digital sales reported by publishers in Circana’s Digital Leader Panel across Nintendo eShop, PlayStation, Xbox and PC. It is not a complete unit-sales census, and digital coverage is incomplete for some titles and platforms.

Because the chart uses dollar sales and has platform-specific data gaps, it should be read as the reported ranking within that coverage—not as a definitive count of every copy sold across the market.

Hardware was the steepest declining category. The report says every current-generation console hardware platform fell at least 34% year over year, with Nintendo Switch down 41%, the largest decline among them. Circana executive producer Mat Piscatella also said growth in the PlayStation Portal remote-play device segment was offset by a 10% year-over-year decline in gamepad spending.
These figures describe the U.S. market in August 2024; they are not a measure of current spending.
