What changed in Franchise Mode?
EA framed the update around making players feel more like NFL head coaches, making games feel distinct, and adding context to the wider league. The developer called it the biggest Franchise update in more than a decade; that is EA’s description, not an independently measured comparison. Create and develop your coaching staff
Created coaches gained 200 new heads and additional clothing and footwear options. EA listed more than 50 shirts, 15 pants and 40 shoes, saying the gear offered over 30,000 possible combinations. Coach archetypes shape starting abilities and later progression. Coordinators and trainers can also have abilities, adding staff development to the team-building layer.
Plan the week and manage player workloads
Weekly scouting and game-planning, together with Play Sheets, give coaches more ways to prepare and choose strategies. Wear and Tear tracks the accumulated impact of hits across the season. EA says players may recover only partly after some games, making workload choices consequential. Dynamic Subs allow changes before the snap, and customizable Franchise sliders let players adjust Wear and Tear.

Track injuries and recovery over time
Instead of showing recovery as a fixed number of weeks, EA describes injuries with a range that becomes more precise over time. A player’s status can improve or worsen from week to week. These are EA’s descriptions of the game systems, not independently verified results.
Shape the league beyond your next game
Franchise adds halftime and weekly recap segments hosted by Scott Hanson. The halftime report includes highlights from other games and, in multi-user online leagues, can show friends’ highlights and player cards. EA says the weekly recap adds league highlights and narrative context.
EA also described city-specific weather adjustments, precipitation that can change during a game, and shifting wind that can affect kicking and passing. Other announced Franchise design changes cover draft-prospect traits, retirement decisions, aging curves, development-trait regression and the effect of playbooks on simulation statistics. These are developer-described systems; EA’s announcement does not establish independent simulation accuracy.

EA said it worked with NFL team game-day operations groups on field art, mascots, stadium motion graphics, stadium sounds and uniforms. In its July 2, 2025 presentation deep dive, EA listed 18 teams with official in-stadium mascots and authentic motion graphics for 26 teams, noting that more content was planned for a future title update. Those counts describe the announcement at that time, not a current total; some NFL teams do not have official in-stadium mascots.

EA’s August 14, 2025 launch announcement also highlighted team traditions such as Minnesota’s Skol chant and Baltimore’s pregame light show, along with dynamic halftime shows and custom broadcast packages. EA reported 77 songs across menus and stadiums.
What arrived after launch?
EA’s November 18, 2025 Be All-Madden update added content beyond the original launch announcements. It introduced an All-Madden Legacy Game with new presentation, commentary and audio, plus the Master Motivator Franchise archetype. EA also announced additional abilities, Play Sheets and playbooks, along with new Wear and Tear sliders and expanded Play Sheet options. These additions belong to the post-launch timeline rather than the launch feature set.
Which platforms is Madden NFL 26 on?
EA’s launch announcement listed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Amazon Luna and PC. EA’s current game page lists PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC storefronts. The available platform list does not establish technical performance or feature parity between versions. Check the specific platform, edition, region and current retailer listing before buying.
