Duskmourn: House of Horror is a 2024 Magic: The Gathering set. It launched on MTG Arena on September 24, 2024, followed by its tabletop release on September 27; prerelease events ran September 20–27, 2024. The announced preorder promotions were also historical, not offers currently open.
When did Duskmourn release?
Wizards of the Coast released Duskmourn: House of Horror on different dates for digital and tabletop play:
- MTG Arena: September 24, 2024.
- Tabletop: September 27, 2024.
- Prerelease events: scheduled at local game stores from September 20 through September 27, 2024.
These dates are documented in Wizards’ first-look announcement and prerelease guide.
Are Duskmourn preorders still available?
The preorder window described in Wizards’ 2024 announcement has passed. That announcement said that a U.S. Amazon preorder of a Play Booster box placed between June 28 and July 31, 2024, would provide a code for a Duskmourn-themed MTG Arena sleeve on September 27, 2024. It was a dated promotion, not a current offer.

Which Commander decks are in Duskmourn?
The four decks are Miracle Worker (white-blue-black), Death Toll (black-green), Jump Scare! (green-blue), and Endless Punishment (black-red). Each has a distinct color identity, so compare the official lists against the play style and cards you want rather than choosing by name alone.

- In Duskmourn: House of Horror, players will dare to enter this plane-enveloping House where their fears come to life. Evil manifests Nightmares and Glitch Ghosts and turns toys and shadows lethal. Players may even face the evil within themselves—but they will be rewarded for their bravery. Invite them to come play—it's their skin in the game.
According to Wizards’ decklist announcement, each deck includes:
- A ready-to-play 100-card deck and two traditional foil borderless commanders.
- Ten cards new to Magic, ten non-foil double-sided tokens, and ten Archenemy scheme cards.
- A deck box, a Duskmourn Collector Booster Sample Pack, and a strategy insert.
The decklist announcement clarifies the ten new-to-Magic cards per deck. The product page’s description of two new borderless foil cards and eight new Commander cards refers to those featured commanders plus the other new cards. The decks do not include a life wheel, as noted in the editor’s note accompanying Wizards’ decklist article. Consult the official decklists for exact card-by-card contents.

What new cards are in Duskmourn?
For the complete visual checklist, use Wizards’ Duskmourn card image gallery linked from the set page. For exact interactions and card rulings, use the official release notes.
The set materials distinguish three set codes: DSK for the main Duskmourn expansion, DSC for Duskmourn Commander, and SPG for Special Guests. Wizards’ first-look announcement says Play Boosters contain DSK and SPG cards; SPG cards opened in Play Boosters can be used in Duskmourn Draft and Sealed.

At set release, DSK main-set cards were legal in Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Commander, and other formats where the cards were otherwise legal. DSC Commander cards numbered 1–40 and their alternate versions numbered 41–67 were legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage. Reprints follow the legality of cards with the same name. These are release-note statements, not a current legality check: consult current format rules and ban announcements before building a deck.
What happened at the 2024 Duskmourn prerelease?
Wizards scheduled local-game-store prerelease events for September 20–27, 2024. Its prerelease and draft guide describes the event as a casual, community-oriented way to play with new cards, commonly using Sealed Deck.
A prerelease pack contained six Duskmourn Play Boosters, one traditional foil year-stamped rare or mythic rare, a deck box, and one of five spindown die colors. It also included an Arena code card in select regions. For the guide’s Sealed format, players built a 40-card deck from their boosters and basic lands. These details describe the 2024 event and pack, not a currently upcoming prerelease.
Which Duskmourn product should you choose?
- For drafting or opening boosters to build with: Play Boosters are the set’s draft-oriented booster product.
- For premium card treatments: Collector Boosters concentrate the set’s premium treatments.
- For a ready-to-play Commander deck: compare the four decks’ color identities and official card lists.
- For a mix of boosters and extras: compare the Bundle and Nightmare Bundle contents with current prices and decide whether their accessories and included boosters suit you.
- For a first event experience: prerelease packs were associated with local-store events in September 2024; they were not an upcoming event product after that date.
If you want only particular cards, compare the cost of singles with sealed products rather than assuming a booster product is the better purchase. No universal value ranking follows from the official product descriptions alone.
