The first Marvel-inspired Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair Superdrop announced at New York Comic Con on October 18, 2024, featured Captain America, Black Panther, Iron Man, Wolverine, and Storm. Hasbro also said the partnership’s first tentpole set would focus on Spider-Man and was planned for 2025. That was the roadmap announced in 2024, not the full story of the collaboration’s later releases.
Which Marvel characters were in the first Secret Lair reveal?
Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast named five heroes for the initial Marvel-inspired Secret Lair Superdrop: Captain America, Black Panther, Iron Man, Wolverine, and Storm. The characters were revealed at New York Comic Con on October 18, 2024. Read the announcement.
This was a Secret Lair release, distinct from the larger tentpole set Hasbro discussed at the same event. The announcement presented Secret Lair as the first way Marvel-inspired cards would reach players, and identified Spider-Man as the subject of the first tentpole Magic set.
What was the partnership supposed to include?
Hasbro described its Marvel agreement as a multi-year, multi-set collaboration to develop collectible products and tentpole Magic sets. That broader plan had been announced on October 23, 2023, before the five-character Secret Lair reveal. See Hasbro’s 2023 partnership announcement.

How did the Marvel Magic releases develop?
Spider-Man was the 2024 roadmap
At the October 2024 reveal, Hasbro said the first tentpole set would be based on Marvel’s Spider-Man and targeted for release in 2025. This describes what the company announced at that time; it should not be treated as a complete or current release schedule for every later Marvel product.

Marvel Super Heroes appeared in later set materials
Wizards of the Coast’s Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes card-list PDF, dated June 12, 2026, includes named cards for Black Panther, Storm, and Iron Man among a broader Marvel roster. It documents a later Marvel-themed set and shows why the initial five-character Secret Lair list is not the whole partnership story. View the official card list.

Later Secret Lair content was a separate release
Wizards’ September 2026 announcement for Secret Lair: A Perfectly Normal Superdrop also described Marvel heroes and pets. It is evidence of later Marvel-themed Secret Lair content, not a reason to conflate that drop with the original 2024 five-character reveal. See the Secret Lair announcement.
