Magic: The Gathering’s Sonic the Hedgehog collection was a three-drop Secret Lair Superdrop—not a conventional expansion. Announced by Wizards of the Coast on June 27, 2025, it comprised Friends & Foes, Turbo Gear and Chasing Adventure. The announcement’s prices and availability dates are historical details, not confirmation that the drops are still in stock or available at those prices.
What was the Magic: The Gathering Sonic collection?
Wizards described the collaboration as a Secret Lair Superdrop featuring Sonic, his friends and some enemies. It had three separately named drops: one with seven new-to-Magic character cards, and two that paired Sonic-themed names or art with existing Magic cards. Wizards’ June 27, 2025 announcement lists the contents and original release details.
What cards were in Friends & Foes?
Secret Lair x Sonic: Friends & Foes contained seven cards named for Sonic characters. Wizards described all seven as new-to-Magic cards:
- Super State
- Knuckles the Echidna
- Amy Rose
- Dr. Eggman
- Miles “Tails” Prower
- Shadow the Hedgehog
- Sonic the Hedgehog
The announcement said these cards were legal in Commander, Legacy and Vintage at the time it was published. That is a June 2025 statement; check current format legality before using any of them in a deck.

Wizards said the drops were available in limited quantities through MagicSecretLair.com. The announcement also said non-foil Friends & Foes would be available at WPN stores beginning August 21, 2025, and that orders through Japan and EMEA retail locations would receive that drop later in September. Those are the original announcement’s terms and dates, not evidence of availability now.
