What does “trillions of new planets” mean?
The figure comes from Hello Games’ January 29, 2025 announcement, which said Worlds Part II would add “billions of new solar systems and trillions of new planets.” The announcement does not provide a counting method or independent verification, so the number is best understood as the developer’s description of the scale of the update—not a separately confirmed census.

The scale claim speaks to No Man’s Sky’s procedural universe: the update expands the range of worlds players can encounter. It does not mean that every player receives a fixed set of individually authored planets.
What Worlds Part II adds
Worlds Part II continues the Worlds updates with new planetary environments and changes to how they look. Hello Games’ official update summary highlights gas giants, water worlds, strange creatures, varied biomes and dramatic terrain, alongside improvements to lighting and water rendering. These are the developer’s feature descriptions; they are not performance measurements or a guarantee of identical visual results across platforms.

More varied worlds
Gas giants and water worlds broaden the kinds of planetary settings the game presents. New biomes and terrain add further variety to exploration, while strange creatures offer more life to encounter across those environments.
Planetary events and the Titan Expedition
The patch notes also describe localized anomalies, including electromagnetic events, stronger storms, tornadoes and zones where gravity is inverted. The Titan Expedition sends players to survey new worlds and offers the Wraith, which Hello Games describes as a unique living ship.

Is Worlds Part II the newest No Man’s Sky update?
No. Worlds Part II is the newest update in the Worlds series identified in Hello Games’ release log, but it is not the newest game update overall. The log includes later releases, including the Cosmos Update in 2026. Release chronology can change, so check the log for the latest status.
