Makino Kurumazuka Kofun is in the northern Yawata Plains of Izumi Settsu, and its entrance and interior traversal puzzle require Yasuke. Bring a red explosive jar down the entrance steps to open the rubble, then work through movable shelves, collapsed walls and a flooded passage to reach the legendary chest containing the Blush of the Earth bow.
Where to find Makino Kurumazuka Kofun
Look in the northern part of Yawata Plains, in Izumi Settsu. The Kofun is east of Takatsuki; another landmark description places it north of Banana Cutters Watchtower. These guide descriptions identify the same general area. PC Gamer, Shacknews, and Game8 provide location details.
Before you enter: select Yasuke
This Kofun’s jar and shelf interactions are Yasuke-only; Naoe cannot move the required heavy objects. If Yasuke is not yet available, return after unlocking him. PowerPyx says the unlock follows Act 1 and the main quest “Mibuno Showdown.” PowerPyx’s walkthrough and the guides above describe the character requirement.
Open the entrance
- Pick up a red explosive jar outside the entrance and carry it down the stairs.
- Set it beside the rubble blocking the way, then retreat up the steps.
- Shoot the jar with a bow or teppo to detonate it from a safer distance. A melee hit can also set it off, but the blast may damage Yasuke.
Navigate the Kofun interior
Move the first shelves and clear the collapsed passages
Take the right-hand path after entering. Push the first wooden shelf or block forward. At the next obstruction, pull the shelf out and shift it aside to make room to pass.

Continue to the room with two explosive jars. Use one to destroy the collapsed doorway, then take the second up the stairs and use it to clear the next collapsed passage. Follow the opened route through the tunnels and swim through the flooded section.
Get a jar across the gap
Near the gap, break the wooden boxes on the right to reveal an explosive jar. Throw it across to the far side, then shoot it to break the collapsed wall. Cross the gap, crawl through the opening and drop into the large room.

Build a climbable route in the large room
Pull a shelf into the room and place it against the ledge opposite the drop point so you can climb back up. Guides also report an optional chest behind that block; check there if you are exploring beyond the main route.
Position shelves for the final explosive jar
In the cramped room beyond, move one shelf into the track-shaped gap toward the entry side. Shift another shelf to open the doorway and form a makeshift stair with the platform. Move the next two shelves aside to expose the jar, then carry it back and up the shelf-and-platform route.

Throw the jar at the final breakable wall and shoot it. If the throw falls short, move the supporting shelf closer to the ledge and try again.

Pass through the opened wall into the treasure room and loot the legendary chest for Blush of the Earth, a bow for Yasuke. PC Gamer reports that the bow extends Clear Mind duration by five seconds; because that effect comes from a guide last updated March 21, 2025, check the item description in your current game for the live effect. Use the nearby shelves to take the shortcut out.

If the puzzle will not progress
- The entrance jar or shelves cannot be moved: confirm Yasuke is unlocked and selected; Naoe cannot perform these interactions.
- The entrance blast hurts you: retreat up the stairs and trigger the jar with a bow or teppo instead of a melee strike.
- The final jar does not reach the wall: reposition the supporting shelf nearer the ledge to improve the throwing position.
