Its Snapdragon 662 is much better suited to PSP, Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, PlayStation 1, arcade games, and older systems. GameCube and PS2 emulation is possible only selectively, with game-by-game tuning and no guarantee of smooth performance.
The device launched in October 2025 at $79.99, or $74.99 with a launch discount. However, Mangmi’s product page was showing a $99.99 sale price against a $105.99 regular price when indexed in August 2026. That makes the Air X a budget PSP-and-classic-console handheld first, rather than a cheap replacement for a stronger sixth-generation emulator.
What is the Mangmi Air X?
The Mangmi Air X is Mangmi’s first handheld: a horizontal Android device designed for portable emulation, Android games, game streaming, and television-oriented use. It runs Android 14 rather than a closed proprietary operating system, so buyers must expect some setup work.
Mangmi markets the Air X as supporting emulation “up to” Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2. That describes the platforms the hardware can attempt to emulate—not a promise that their libraries run smoothly. The Snapdragon 662 has enough performance for many older systems and PSP, but it lacks the graphics headroom needed for broad, plug-and-play PS2 or GameCube compatibility.

The official product information does not establish that the retail package includes a licensed commercial game library. Buyers should expect to install emulators and provide homebrew, public-domain software, or game files they are legally entitled to use. The legality of ROMs and BIOS files varies by jurisdiction and how they were obtained.

Price and availability
The oft-repeated “$75” price refers to launch conditions, not a permanent retail price:
| Date or period | Reported price | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| October 16, 2025 launch coverage | $79.99 | Reported standard launch price |
| Launch promotion | $74.99 | $5 subscriber discount |

Notebookcheck’s launch report documents the original pricing and discount. The checkout total can change with shipping, taxes, regional storefronts, promotional codes, and stock.
Mangmi’s indexed product page stated that the Air X was in stock, with standard 4PX or YunExpress shipping estimated at 7–20 business days. It also stated that tracking would be emailed after shipment and that a one-year limited warranty covers manufacturing defects. These are Mangmi’s stated policies, not a guarantee of delivery speed or warranty outcomes in every region.

How powerful is the Snapdragon 662?
The Air X has a useful but clearly limited performance hierarchy:
Rank #2
- ALL GAMES, ALL PLACES, ALL YOURS – Get ready to game on the 8" 120Hz Lenovo PureSight display and launch any title using Legion Space. The AMD Ryzen Z2 Go processor and AMD Radeon graphics deliver incredible gaming performance.
- SEE EVERY DETAIL – Make every scene pop with 500 nits of stunning brightness and 100% sRGB color accuracy. And with 10-point touch support, your interactions are as precise as your aim.
- PLAY YOUR WAY – Play hundreds of high-quality PC games with your complimentary 3 months of PC Game Pass and EA Play. With new games added all the time, there’s always something new to play.
- POWER-UP AND GO – When it comes to gaming on the go, battery life is everything. The Lenovo Legion Go S is built with a robust 55.5Whr battery that delivers the long-lasting power you need for extended play sessions.
- TAKE FULL CONTROL – Get ready to dominate with the ergonomic Legion TrueStrike Controllers, designed for all-day comfort and precision. With their anti-slip texture, you’ll stay in control during even the most intense battles.
| Target systems | Practical expectation |
|---|---|
| 8-bit and 16-bit consoles | Generally effortless |
| PlayStation 1 and many arcade systems | Comfortable |
| Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast | Strong use cases |
| PlayStation Portable | One of the device’s best targets; settings vary by game |
| GameCube and PlayStation 2 | Mixed, experimental, and game-dependent |
Independent coverage places the Air X primarily in the PSP-and-earlier category. Time Extension found that some GameCube and PS2 titles could be made acceptable with extra work, while also emphasizing that performance was not consistently smooth. Android Authority similarly positioned the handheld as a PSP-focused device whose performance drops off above the systems it handles well.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →What “up to GameCube and PS2” really means
A game starting is not the same as a game being playable. A short demonstration reaching full speed is also not proof of stable performance throughout a long session. Emulation can change dramatically according to the game, emulator version, graphics backend, resolution, drivers, thermal conditions, and power settings.
Some titles may require reduced resolution, underclocking, speed hacks, alternative renderers, frame skipping, or per-game profiles. The Air X’s Adreno GPU may benefit from compatible graphics drivers, but finding and maintaining the right emulator and driver combination can become part of the ownership experience.
The correct expectation is therefore:
The Air X can attempt GameCube and PS2 emulation, and some titles may be playable after tuning, but its Snapdragon 662 is a budget chip rather than a reliable sixth-generation emulation platform.
That distinction matters more than the platform list on the box. “Up to” describes a technical ceiling, not a percentage of a console library or a console-like experience.

PSP is the Air X’s strongest selling point. The 5.5-inch 16:9 display matches the PSP’s native aspect ratio, and the 1,920×1,080 resolution provides room for integer scaling or higher-resolution rendering where a particular game allows it. Reviews identify PSP as one of the handheld’s best use cases, although 2× rendering should not be assumed for every title.
The Hall-effect sticks, analog triggers, and stacked shoulder buttons are also more suitable for PSP’s 3D games than the controls on many inexpensive retro handhelds. Buyers interested mainly in PSP should judge the device on its screen, ergonomics, battery behavior, and willingness to configure an Android emulator—not on the PS2/GameCube headline.

Display, controls, and ergonomics
The 5.5-inch IPS panel is sharp, touch-sensitive, and refreshing at 60Hz. Its 16:9 shape is excellent for PSP, Android video, and widescreen games, but much less natural for older 4:3 systems. Those games will normally appear with side borders unless the image is stretched. Widescreen hacks can help selected GameCube, PSP, or PS2 games, but they are game-specific and may cause graphical problems.
The symmetrical analog-stick placement, Hall-effect sticks, Hall-effect triggers, D-pad, and six-axis sensor give the Air X a modern control set. Hall-effect components can reduce the risk of conventional potentiometer drift, but they do not prove long-term durability for every unit. There is not enough evidence to make a broad lifetime claim.
Curved sides and integrated grips should help with longer sessions. At 286g, the Air X is portable without being ultra-light. Active cooling can help sustain performance, but it adds fan noise, power consumption, and another mechanical component. A 3.5mm headphone jack is useful for wired, low-latency audio.
Battery life
The official battery capacity is 5,000mAh. Time Extension reported approximately five hours of battery life in its review. That is a review observation rather than a guaranteed runtime: brightness, Wi-Fi, fan activity, emulator load, game, and performance settings can all change the result.
Android setup and storage
The Air X is not necessarily a pick-up-and-play appliance. A typical setup involves:
- Completing Android’s initial setup and connecting to Wi-Fi.
- Installing or updating the desired emulators.
- Configuring controller mappings and, where needed, motion controls.
- Adding legally obtained game dumps or homebrew.
- Setting system-wide and per-game graphics options.
- Organizing games and emulator data on internal storage or a microSD card.
- Testing sleep, charging, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and resume behavior.
- Adding a third-party launcher or frontend if the stock interface is inconvenient.
There is no single universally correct emulator, Android build, driver, or configuration for every game. Community guides and emulator versions change, and the best setup may require experimentation.
The 64GB internal storage is enough for Android and emulators but can fill quickly with large PSP, PS2, GameCube, and Android games. Mangmi officially lists microSD support up to 2TB in FAT32. Buyers should verify practical card-size and formatting limits before purchasing a very large card.

Who should buy the Mangmi Air X?
Buy it if:
- Your main targets are PSP, Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, PlayStation 1, arcade games, and older systems.
- You want a 16:9 screen and modern analog controls.
- You are comfortable installing Android software and adjusting emulator settings.
- You value low cost more than flawless sixth-generation emulation.
- The price is close to the original sub-$90 positioning.
Avoid it if:
- PS2 or GameCube is your primary reason for buying.
- You expect broad, plug-and-play compatibility.
- You dislike Android setup and troubleshooting.
- You need an established support and returns ecosystem.
- The price is close to stronger handhelds that offer substantially more performance.
Should you spend more?
If PS2 and GameCube are the priority, a stronger handheld is the safer purchase. The Retroid Pocket 5 lists a Snapdragon 865, Adreno 650 GPU, 12GB of RAM, 128GB UFS 3.1 storage, a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, a 5,000mAh battery, active cooling, and Hall sticks. Its listed price signal was about $209, so it costs roughly twice as much but provides substantially more sixth-generation headroom.
The Anbernic RG556 lists a Unisoc T820, 8GB of RAM, a 5.48-inch 1080p AMOLED display, a 5,500mAh battery, Hall controls, active cooling, and USB-C display output, with an indexed price signal around $180. It is a stronger Android emulation platform, although it is not in the Air X’s approximately $100 price class.

The Retroid Pocket Classic has a price signal from $99 and may be worth considering for buyers focused on older systems, but it is not a direct replacement for the Air X’s 16:9 PSP-oriented design.
| Buyer priority | Best direction |
|---|---|
| Lowest cost and older systems | Mangmi Air X or a cheaper classic-focused handheld |
| PSP and 16:9 content | Mangmi Air X |
| More dependable sixth-generation emulation | Retroid Pocket 5 or Anbernic RG556 |
| AMOLED display and stronger performance | Retroid Pocket 5 or Anbernic RG556 |
| Minimal setup and support | Favor an established vendor, while checking its actual return and support terms |

Verdict
The Mangmi Air X makes sense as a budget Android handheld for PSP, Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, PlayStation 1, arcade games, and earlier systems. Its 16:9 1080p display, Hall controls, active cooling, expandable storage, and Android 14 software give it a credible feature set.
But the “up to GameCube and PS2” label should be treated as an experimental ceiling. Some games may work with careful tuning; the Snapdragon 662 cannot deliver reliable, full-library sixth-generation emulation. At the original $75-class launch price, that compromise was easy to understand. At the approximately $100 official price signal indexed in August 2026, buyers should compare it more carefully with stronger devices.
