It does not provide a dated plan for what comes after March. These details come from secondary reporting; a directly accessible Bungie roadmap was not available to confirm them.
What’s in the new Marathon roadmap?
A secondary report lays out three stages, moving from a progression refresh to new activities and, finally, a wider effort to connect the game’s systems. The dates and descriptions below reflect that report, not a directly confirmed Bungie roadmap.
| Date | Reported update | What it is expected to add |
|---|---|---|
| October 6, 2026 | Nightfall Refresh | Progression and economy reset, refreshed rewards, quality-of-life work and tuning, plus a limited return of Vault Breaker. |
| December 8, 2026 | Symbiosis | The first permanent dedicated PvE mode, an expanded Perimeter, the Bishop Runner shell, experimental Team Deathmatch, a social space, a firing range and onboarding improvements. |
| March 2027 | Marathon Evolution | Connected permanent PvE, PvP and PvEvP experiences; deeper shell progression; a redesigned Cradle; more focused questlines; new alien combatants; and a new zone. |
The report also says Bungie is loosening fixed seasonal deadlines and intends to time major updates around their scope and readiness. That cadence description, like the feature list, is secondary-source reporting.
What is the December Symbiosis update meant to change?
Symbiosis is the roadmap’s clearest step toward a permanent PvE offering: the report describes it as Marathon’s first permanent dedicated PvE mode. It is not presented as a mode-only patch. The same update is reported to bring an expanded Perimeter, a new Bishop Runner shell, experimental Team Deathmatch, a social space and firing range, and onboarding improvements.

- CLASSIC GRAPHICS AND SOUNDS: Immerse yourself in nostalgia with classic graphics, music, and sounds that look just like the original Tetris arcade game!
- AUTHENTIC GAMEPLAY: Use the joystick and buttons to move and rotate the Tetriminos as they fall to complete lines and score points!
- FULL COLOR SCREEN: With a brighter, full color screen that makes it easy to see the blocks, you’ll be racking up points like a pro as you stack your Tetriminos!
- MARATHON MODE: Race to line up your Tetriminos in rows before they stack too high. Complete 10 lines to move to the next level. But watch out - the Tetriminos drop faster the longer you play!
- SHARE AND COLLECT: Arcade Classics are a must-have retro toy for collectors or for anyone looking to share this classic toy with the next generation!
Those additions point to a broader update touching play spaces, competitive experimentation and ways for players to get started. The report does not give further specifications, such as how the PvE mode works or whether Team Deathmatch will remain experimental permanently.
What is planned for March 2027?
Marathon Evolution is described as the largest of the three roadmap beats: rather than listing only one new mode, the report frames it as an effort to connect permanent PvE, PvP and PvEvP experiences. It also names deeper shell progression, a redesigned Cradle, more focused questlines, new alien combatants and a new zone.

The available description does not explain how those activities will connect in practice, or provide details such as the zone’s name. Treat March as a reported direction and feature set, not as confirmation that the changes have shipped.
What happens after March?
The report characterizes March as a foundation for continued development, but gives no dated post-March update, feature list or next roadmap milestone. In practical terms, the schedule described publicly in this account ends at March 2027. Any claim about what comes next would go beyond the details it provides.

Is the roadmap confirmed by Bungie?

For separate product context, PlayStation’s January 19, 2026 announcement identifies Marathon for PS5, Steam and Xbox Series X|S and names Standard and Deluxe editions. It also announced a Marathon Limited Edition DualSense controller; the announcement’s Southeast Asian prices are regional, and it says launch timing and availability may vary by country or region. It does not establish the controller’s current availability or an Amazon listing.
