Final Fantasy VII: Revelation is planned as a multiplatform launch rather than another PlayStation-first entry in the remake trilogy. Director Naoki Hamaguchi called that shift “an inevitable outcome” of how players use hardware today, according to GamesRadar’s account of an interview in Edge issue #429. His argument is that major games should deliver the same core experience across different devices—not prioritize the most powerful one.
Why Hamaguchi says multiplatform releases are inevitable
Hamaguchi’s reasoning, as reported by GamesRadar, is that players are no longer tied to one kind of hardware. They play on televisions, desktop computers and handheld devices, so he sees value in making a game’s central experience available across different environments.
“I believe that what will be important in future triple-A game development is not how high-performance an environment we can use,” Hamaguchi said, “but rather how widely we can deliver the core of the same experience across different environments.” GamesRadar attributes the remarks to an interview in Edge issue #429; the original magazine text was not independently reviewed, so the quotation is presented as reported by GamesRadar.
How Revelation differs from the earlier remake releases
GamesRadar describes Revelation as the first entry in the remake trilogy planned to launch across platforms at the same time. It contrasts that plan with Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which it says debuted as PlayStation exclusives before arriving on other platforms later.
