Ubisoft’s March of Giants Pioneer Playtest is scheduled to run from October 7 to October 18, 2026, with the test opening at 10 a.m. EDT on Steam. Players who joined the September 2025 Closed Alpha are automatically included; new players can request access through the Steam playtest page, subject to regional availability. Ubisoft describes the game as a free-to-play, 4v4 MOBA built around Giants, Soldiers and deployable Battleworks.
When does the March of Giants playtest start?
Ubisoft says the Pioneer Playtest begins October 7, 2026, at 10 a.m. EDT and ends October 18. It will run through Steam and is listed as available in North America and supported European countries. Ubisoft’s announcement lists English, French, German and Spanish localization; it says additional languages and server support are planned for future tests. Availability may change, so check the Steam playtest page and Ubisoft’s current announcement for the live access details.
How to get into the Pioneer Playtest
If you played the September 2025 Closed Alpha
Ubisoft says returning Alpha players are automatically included. The game should appear in their Steam library when the playtest opens. Ubisoft also says returning players need an Ubisoft Connect account and will not receive a new Steam access notification.
If you are a new player
- Open the March of Giants Steam playtest page.
- Use the page’s playtest access request option and follow Steam’s prompts.
- Check that you are in a supported region and consult Ubisoft’s announcement for current instructions and availability.
Ubisoft says the test is open to North America and supported European countries. The announcement does not establish access in every European country, so a request should not be treated as confirmation that the test is available in every region.

What is March of Giants?
Ubisoft Montréal describes March of Giants as a free-to-play, 4v4 MOBA. Its setting combines industrial-era and First World War imagery—trenches, artillery, fortified positions, large armies and shifting fronts—with dark fairy-tale elements. Ubisoft says the result gives the Giants room to draw on technology, folklore, experimentation, military history and monsters. The studio presents the game as a full MOBA, with character mastery, map knowledge, game flow and team coordination at its core. Giants, Soldiers and Battleworks
Giants are both individual fighters and commanders in a larger battle. Soldiers move alongside them, while players can deploy Battleworks across the battlefield. Ubisoft says its design goal is to make these systems part of a connected contest for map control, rather than treating the Giants as the only units that matter.

What Ubisoft says it has changed since Closed Alpha
Ubisoft reports that it has expanded Soldier roles, added more interaction and counterplay around Battleworks, made the spaces between lanes more important to progression and map control, and broadened itemization to support more specialized builds. It also says it has added Giants and continued work on the roster, map, interface, visuals, animations and clarity. These are the developer’s descriptions of changes; the announcement does not independently establish how those changes play in practice.
The studio’s stated reason for reopening testing is to observe how players use the systems, form strategies and identify areas for improvement. The development team wrote, “During Closed Alpha, we said that PvP games are a conversation.” Its October 7 YouTube Premiere is described as an introduction to the test, with gameplay, basic instruction, the available Giants—including a new roster member—and a look at the game’s future. Pioneer Points, Pandemos and Early Access plans
Ubisoft’s Pioneer Program announcement says PvP matches earn Pioneer Points and that reaching 1,000 points grants Pioneer status and rewards during the playtest and Early Access. It also says Pandemos, described as the newest Giant, arrives October 12 and may be permanently unlocked through the program. Consult the full announcement for current eligibility and reward terms before relying on them.
Ubisoft has announced Early Access as a plan for summer 2027, not as a fixed release date. That timing reflects the company’s announcement and could change; see the Ubisoft Pressroom announcement.
