Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a side-scrolling, arcade-style tag-team beat ’em up starring Marvel heroes, with local and online co-op options that depend on platform. It launched December 1, 2025. What is Marvel Cosmic Invasion?
Developed by Tribute Games and published by Dotemu, Marvel Cosmic Invasion is built around arcade-style brawling and swapping between a pair of superheroes. The story pits Earth-born and cosmic heroes against Annihilus and his Annihilation Wave, with the adventure moving between locations including New York City and the Negative Zone. Steam also lists Gamirror Games as a publisher for its PC version.
The game launched on December 1, 2025. Dotemu’s launch announcement names Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Later Dotemu material also lists PlayStation 4, and Steam’s listing covers PC and Linux. Store catalogs can vary by region, so check the store for the platform and country where you intend to buy.

How does Cosmic Swap work?
For each level, select two heroes and switch between them instantly with Cosmic Swap. Nintendo says their different abilities can be combined to create combinations and special attacks. In practical terms, the tag-team setup makes your pair choice part of the action: you can bring two different toolsets into a level and swap as you fight.

Yes. The available multiplayer modes depend on platform, so do not assume every option listed for one version is available in another.

Which edition should you buy?
The relevant choice is the platform you own, digital versus physical, and—if buying a physical copy—whether you want Standard or Deluxe. Dotemu announced physical Standard and Deluxe editions for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5, with worldwide distribution outside Asia and a March 13, 2026 release date. Current retailer stock and prices are not established here, so check retailers before buying.

These are prices announced by Dotemu for the physical editions, not verified current retailer prices. The physical release announcement also refers to Xbox pricing, but does not list Xbox among the platforms for those announced physical editions.

What DLC is available?
Cyclops & The Thing
In an announcement dated May 18, 2026, Dotemu said the first paid DLC, adding Cyclops and The Thing, was launching that day for $3.99 on all platforms. The publisher described Cyclops as using diagonal optic blasts and The Thing as a tanklike fighter focused on grappling. Check your platform’s store for current availability and price.
Second planned DLC
In the same announcement, Dotemu said a second paid DLC was planned for Fall 2026 and would add a new game mode and more playable characters. That was the publisher’s plan as of May 18, 2026; the announcement does not establish whether it has since launched or specify its price.

How widely has the game been played?
Dotemu reported on May 18, 2026, that more than 1.5 million players had joined the game since launch. This is a publisher-reported figure, not an independently audited player count.
