Gambit is a Strategist who switches between two card modes: Hearts support allies with healing and Purify, while Spades add damage and disruption. Play him by keeping useful sightlines to teammates, choosing the mode that fits the fight, and saving his ultimate for an ally who can make the most of its short buff window.
How Gambit’s card modes work
Gambit’s central decision is whether to spend a Sleight of Hand stack on Healing Hearts or Breaking Spades. Each consumes a stack and opens a mode for up to six seconds. Hearts enable Bridge Boost and Purifying Pick-Up; Spades enable Explosive Trick and Bidding Barrage. Rather than using every charge as soon as it returns, switch when the team needs sustain and cleansing or when the fight calls for pressure and control.
Healing Hearts: support and cleanse
Healing Hearts activates Gambit’s healing deck. The official profile lists four charges, recharging at eight seconds per charge, and a maximum mode duration of six seconds. While Hearts are active, Bridge Boost fires a stream that automatically tracks and bounces among allies, providing healing and a temporary healing boost. Use it when teammates are positioned so the bouncing stream can reach them.
Purifying Pick-Up sends a cluster of cards that explodes to heal nearby allies and apply Purify. It is the more local option: use it when allies are close enough to benefit from both the healing and cleanse.

Breaking Spades: damage and disruption
Breaking Spades switches to the damage deck, consumes a Sleight of Hand stack, and grants Gambit a listed 10% damage boost for up to six seconds. Explosive Trick sends cards forward; impacts deal damage and reduce healing. Bidding Barrage scatters cards around the target area, damaging and launching enemies. These tools can add pressure or interrupt enemy positioning, but they do not replace the value of staying near teammates who need support.
Gambit’s abilities and core attack
Kinetic Cards
Gambit launches three Kinetic Cards with his core fire. Each card can damage an enemy or heal an ally on impact, so aim at the teammate or opponent who matters rather than treating every shot as damage. Marvel Rivals’ official profile, published November 14, 2025, lists 20 damage or 30 healing per card, a 0.45-second fire interval, 21 ammo, 150 m/s projectile speed, and a 60 m maximum distance. It also lists Gambit at 250 Health. These are dated profile values and may change in later patches.

Cajun Charge and Bayou Bash
Cajun Charge is a two-charge dash with an eight-meter range; the profile lists a 12.5-second recharge per charge. Use it to reposition or get out of danger while keeping a route back to your team’s sightlines, rather than chasing damage away from allies.
Bayou Bash sweeps and slams Gambit’s bo staff, creating a nearby shockwave that damages enemies and heals allies. The official profile lists two charges, recharging at eight seconds per charge. Its close-range effect makes it useful when teammates and opponents are gathered around Gambit.

What Ragin’ Royal Flush does
Ragin’ Royal Flush locks onto an ally within sight and unleashes Aces. Gambit and the selected ally receive Purify and a jump boost; the effect also provides healing, increased movement speed and enhanced attacks. The ally additionally receives ultimate-charge acceleration. In the official profile dated November 14, 2025, the listed values are 100 one-time healing, 55 healing per second, an eight-second duration, a 30% movement-speed boost, 20% enhanced damage, and 20% ultimate-charge acceleration. Treat these as the profile’s dated figures, not guaranteed permanent values.
Think of the ultimate as a coordinated tempo window. Pick an ally who can act during the buffs, and time the cleanse and healing for a moment when they can affect the engagement. Its sight requirement also means you need a clear line to your chosen teammate when activating it.

Practical decisions during a match
- Keep sightlines to the frontline. Gambit’s healing, targeted ultimate, and team utility depend on being able to reach teammates. An independent Gambit guide likewise recommends maintaining a useful line of sight and keeping utility available for enemy dives.
- Choose the mode for the team’s immediate need. Hearts favor healing and Purify; Spades favor damage, healing reduction, and launching enemies. The mode switch costs a Sleight of Hand stack, so consider whether the fight needs support or pressure before spending one.
- Match the Heart ability to ally positions. Bridge Boost suits allies its tracking bounces can reach; Purifying Pick-Up is for nearby allies who can benefit from its local healing and Purify.
- Use movement to preserve your support position. Cajun Charge can reposition or help you escape, while Bayou Bash adds close-range damage and healing. Avoid turning either into a reason to abandon teammates for a low-value chase.
- Keep balance changes in context. NetEase’s July 6, 2026 Version 20260710 balance post changed global Strategist ultimate-energy conversions: healing-to-energy conversion went from 75% to 60%, and damage-to-energy conversion from 75% to 55%. Those are global changes documented in that post, not a Gambit-specific kit change. The post does not establish that Gambit’s listed abilities changed.
