Hawkeye is a Duelist built around deliberate ranged aim: charge Piercing Arrow for damage and speed, keep your aim on an enemy to build Archer’s Focus, and choose the moment to shoot before the target leaves your sightline. What is Hawkeye’s role?
Hawkeye is a ranged Duelist whose primary attack rewards careful timing more than rapid firing. Marvel Rivals’ official launch guide describes him as sniper-like and particularly suited to players confident in their aim. That is a description of his intended style, not a quantified skill requirement.
Look for a sightline covering likely enemy routes while keeping nearby cover or a retreat route available. There is no single best position for every map or fight: choose a view that lets you track targets without making it difficult to move when the enemy team closes in.

How do Piercing Arrow and Archer’s Focus work?
Piercing Arrow: charge for a deliberate shot
Piercing Arrow is an arcing projectile with infinite ammunition. Charging it increases both damage and projectile speed. The official hero reference lists 28–70 damage and 130–195 m/s, with maximum damage and speed after 0.9 seconds of charging. Those are the displayed values as of October 8, 2026—not the faster values scheduled for the following day.
Charge with a target and timing in mind. A longer charge improves the shot, but can cost an opportunity if the enemy moves out of view. Use the available sightline to decide whether to finish charging or release sooner rather than holding the shot automatically.

Archer’s Focus: keep aim on a target
Archer’s Focus is Hawkeye’s passive. Aiming at an enemy within its listed 40 m trigger distance builds focus and adds damage to Piercing Arrow, up to 90 bonus damage after 0.9 seconds of aiming, according to the official hero reference. This makes target selection and tracking important: choose an enemy you can keep in view, and be ready to fire before they move or break line of sight.

Blast Arrow fires three explosive arrows. The official reference lists three charges, a 0.5-second cooldown, and damage from the projectiles and their impact fields. It offers a different pattern from a single charged precision arrow: consider it when the angle, nearby surfaces, or a cluster of opponents makes its explosive spread useful. It is not a universal replacement for charging Piercing Arrow.

How do Hawkeye’s defensive and movement tools work?
Skyward Leap
Skyward Leap is a double jump in the direction of movement, with a listed six-second cooldown. Use it to change elevation or leave a predictable firing lane when repositioning would help. It moves Hawkeye; it does not itself slow or knock down an opponent.
Hypersonic Arrow
Hypersonic Arrow travels straight, deals two instances of damage, slows enemies for one second, and can knock down flying heroes. Its listed cooldown is 12 seconds. It is a useful response when an airborne opponent needs checking or a pursuer needs slowing, rather than another charged precision shot.

Crescent Slash and Ronin Slash
Crescent Slash is a close-range katana attack that knocks hit enemies back. The official reference lists 40 damage, an 8 m maximum distance, and a 12-second cooldown, making it a way to create space when someone gets close.

Ronin Slash is a frontal wakizashi swing that deflects incoming projectiles, but it is not a general-purpose shield: the official reference says it does not block explosions or effects created by projectiles on hit. Treat it as a situational answer to incoming projectiles, not protection from every attack.

How does Hunter’s Sight work?
Hunter’s Sight captures afterimages of enemies in view. When Hawkeye damages an afterimage, that damage transfers to the corresponding enemy; the afterimages are not independent enemies. The ultimate lasts 10 seconds and increases bow draw speed, according to the official hero reference.
During the effect, aim at the captured afterimages and keep dealing damage while the window lasts. The transfer mechanic means the ultimate is more than a visual reveal, while the faster draw supports a quicker firing rhythm.
How should you sequence Hawkeye’s kit?
- Set up a usable sightline. Favor a view of likely enemy routes that still leaves cover or a way to retreat.
- Track a target, then commit to a shot. Archer’s Focus rewards maintaining aim, while Piercing Arrow gains damage and speed as it charges. Avoid waiting for a full charge if the target is about to leave view.
- Choose the arrow for the situation. Use Piercing Arrow for a deliberate charged shot; consider Blast Arrow when its explosive projectiles and impact fields suit the angle or group.
- Answer pressure with the tool that fits. Leap to reposition, use Hypersonic Arrow to slow or check a flying opponent, use Crescent Slash to knock a close enemy back, or use Ronin Slash against deflectable projectiles. Match your response to the threat instead of spending every tool at once.
- Keep attacking during Hunter’s Sight. Aim at captured afterimages and fire during the ultimate so damage transfers to their corresponding enemies.
What has changed, and what is upcoming?
Hawkeye’s displayed numbers have changed over time. Official balance posts document the following history:

Team-Up combinations can change by season. The official Season 5 update says Hawkeye gained Moonlit Slash through Cloak & Dagger and lost the former Luna Snow Ice Arrow Team-Up. Check the current client before relying on a particular partner combination. If you are reading this on or after October 9, check the live patch for the scheduled changes rather than assuming the announced values are still current.
