For the February 2025 Season 1.5 snapshot, Doctor Strange and Namor were among the most consistently highly rated characters in contemporary tier lists, with Rocket Raccoon also appearing near the top. The Thing received a generally strong early reception; Human Torch’s placement was more often mid-tier. These are comparisons of player and publication opinions—not an official ranking or a win-rate list—and individual characters could land far apart depending on the source.
Season 1.5 tier list: the cautious consensus
There was no official Marvel Rivals tier list for Season 1.5. A February 24, 2025 comparison by Paul Tassi at Forbes set four published lists alongside one another: B0gur, MarvelRivals.gg, Mobalytics, and PCGamesN. Their tier placements did not match exactly, so the most useful reading is to look for recurring agreement and note where opinions split.
| Character or group | What the compared lists suggest | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Doctor Strange and Namor | Appeared near the top across the compared lists. | The clearest shared high-tier signal in this snapshot, but not proof of a measured competitive advantage. |
| Rocket Raccoon | Was often rated highly. | A recurring strong placement, though the lists were not unanimous. |
| The Thing | Generally placed high in early rankings. | A positive initial response to the new Vanguard, not a settled season-long verdict. |
| Human Torch | Tended to land around the middle, with variation by list. | His early placement should not be confused with his post-update standing. |
| Wolverine | Ranged from S tier to B tier. | A pronounced disagreement among list-makers. |
| Mister Fantastic | Ranged from E/D tier to B tier. | Another character whose evaluation depended heavily on the list. |
| Black Widow and Jeff | Appeared near the bottom in several lists. | This is a recurring opinion in the comparison, not a statistical finding. |
| Scarlet Witch and Spider-Man | Were subjects of debate. | The comparison did not establish a single broadly accepted placement. |
The Forbes comparison emphasized that tier lists were opinion-driven and that the snapshot came early after the patch. It did not supply a role-by-role, skill-bracket-based ordering supported by measured data. Treat the table as a map of contemporary opinions, not a universal ranking for every role, rank, or team composition.

The February 19 official balance post described the launch adjustments as “some refinement to our Super Heroes and Villains.” Its changes affected several roles. For example, Doctor Strange’s base health fell from 650 to 600; Magneto’s Iron Volley damage rose from 35 to 40 while Metallic Curtain’s maximum duration fell from 2 seconds to 1.5 seconds; Captain America received a lower ultimate energy cost; and Venom’s Feast of the Abyss ultimate cost fell from 2800 to 2500. These are patch facts, not independent evidence that any one hero belonged in a particular tier. See the official February 19 balance post for the full adjustments.
Launch rankings and the mid-season update are different snapshots
The Season 1.5 rankings compared on February 24 reflected the launch period. On March 12, the developers published a mid-season balance update, adjusting Human Torch, Iron Man, and Cloak & Dagger. The post also described several team approaches in use: mobile Vanguard/Duelist rush, a double-flyer lineup featuring Storm and Human Torch, 3-1-2, 2-2-2, and single-Vanguard compositions. The official March 12 mid-season post provides that later context.

Accordingly, a Season 1.5 ranking needs a date or patch label. The launch-period placements above should not be presented as a verdict for the March update, and the mid-season composition notes do not themselves establish a new full tier list.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to use this list when choosing a character
- Use recurring high placements as a starting point, not a command. Doctor Strange and Namor drew comparatively consistent high ratings, but the comparison does not establish that either is best for every player or lineup.
- Expect disagreement for disputed picks. The wide spreads for Wolverine and Mister Fantastic are a reason to consult the particular list and its reasoning rather than treating a single tier label as settled fact.
- Account for timing. The Thing and Human Torch were new at launch, and Human Torch was later adjusted. A launch opinion and a mid-season assessment answer different questions.
- Do not infer tier from patch direction alone. A buff or nerf describes a change; it does not tell you the hero’s complete strength relative to the roster.
The Forbes comparison anticipated that actual pick-rate and win-rate data would accrue over time, but it did not provide a named, attributable Season 1.5 statistic. The placements here therefore remain a summary of published opinions from February 2025, not a quantitative ranking.
