If you’re asking what new character and map Marvel Rivals announced for Season 5, the answer is Gambit and Times Square. Season 5 is no longer upcoming: its update began November 14, 2025, at 09:00 UTC, and the official site was promoting Season 10.5 on October 8, 2026.
What did Marvel Rivals Season 5 add?
The official Season 5 patch notes named Gambit as the new hero and Times Square as a new map. Unlike a standard combat arena, Times Square was explicitly designed as a non-combat space for socializing and activities.
Gambit joined as the new hero
Gambit was the new playable character named in the Season 5 patch notes. The notes also listed a Gambit bundle, a Gambit emoji bundle, and a Gambit accessory among the digital in-game offerings available when the update began.
Times Square was a social space, not a battle arena
The official notes described Times Square as a non-combat map. In PC Gamer’s contemporary report on the Dev Vision reveal, developer Guangguang said it could host up to 100 players and described activities including hanging out, dancing, watching videos, and reading books. That figure is a reported map-capacity statement, not a player-population or performance statistic.

How did Times Square differ from Grand Garden?
The Season 5 reveal coverage discussed two distinct map experiences. The official patch notes identify Times Square as non-combat; PC Gamer’s report associated Grand Garden with the 18-player Annihilation mode. The Grand Garden and mode details here are attributed to that contemporary report, rather than presented as independently confirmed by the patch notes.
| Map or feature | Intended activity | Capacity or mode | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Times Square | Non-combat social interaction and activities | Up to 100 players, according to Guangguang as quoted by PC Gamer | Non-combat purpose in official Season 5 patch notes; capacity in PC Gamer’s 2025 reveal report |
| Grand Garden | Combat | Associated with an 18-player Annihilation mode in the reveal report | PC Gamer’s contemporary coverage; not specified in the cited official patch notes |
