Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls ranked third in Circana’s U.S. software sales chart for August 2026, behind NBA 2K27 and Madden NFL 27, according to Push Square’s report on that release. The same report says PS5 hardware dollar sales rose 17% year over year in August while unit sales fell 11%. These are two separate findings. The console spending figures do not show that Marvel Tokon drove them.
Where Marvel Tokon placed in August
The ranking is a monthly placement on Circana’s U.S. software chart for August 2026. It is not a lifetime sales total, and the reporting does not give a number of copies sold or a revenue figure for the game. Two points keep the result in proportion:

- It is a monthly rank. Third place describes August alone.
- It is not a year-to-date position. Circana’s 2026 year-to-date top ten, which Push Square also reports, does not list Marvel Tokon. Do not read the August placement as a standing for the year so far.
Push Square’s report, written by Sammy Barker, says the game had been described as a slow seller but performed well in recent PlayStation Store sales charts before reaching third place on Circana’s August chart. The article presents this as an editorial judgment about the game’s performance, not as a measured comparison.
What the chart measures, and what it does not
According to the report, Circana’s chart tracks physical and digital sales in the U.S. market. That scope matters because a digital-inclusive ranking captures PlayStation Store purchases alongside retail boxes, but the reporting does not explain how Circana weights each channel for a given title.

Two limits apply to every figure in this chart:
- Projected sales. Push Square cites Circana’s own caveat that its data relies substantially on projected sales. Rankings and percentages are therefore estimates built on modeled figures, not a complete count of transactions.
- Missing publisher data. The report says major publishers, including Microsoft, no longer provide official sales data to Circana. Any chart is incomplete to that degree.
The report does not verify how much of Marvel Tokon’s placement comes from projected versus reported sales. Treat the rank as a directional signal of U.S. sales activity in August, not a precise measure of the game’s sales.
PS5 hardware: dollars up, units down
The same Circana month shows a split between spending and volume for PS5 hardware. Push Square reports the following figures, all for August 2026 and all year over year:

Dollar sales and unit sales moved in opposite directions. Dollars are the product of units and price, so a rise in dollars alongside a fall in units means the average amount spent per console went up.
Why dollars and units diverged
Push Square suggests price increases as the likely explanation. That interpretation fits the arithmetic: if fewer consoles sell but each costs more, total spending can still grow. The report does not quantify any price change, name the hardware price points involved, or show how much of the 17% comes from price rather than mix of models or bundles. The explanation is plausible, but the article does not establish it as the cause.

The divergence also says nothing about Marvel Tokon. A game’s chart rank and a console’s hardware spending are measured separately, and the reporting does not link the two.

The headline’s framing is the article’s own characterization. Push Square presents third place as a stronger result than social-media sentiment about the game might suggest. That is a fair reading of the rank, but it is a judgment. Without unit or revenue figures for Marvel Tokon, a reader cannot compare its August performance with the two titles ahead of it, or with its own earlier sales. Third place on one month’s chart supports a claim that the game sold well enough to chart in August. It does not establish commercial success on its own.

- Check the chart: Look for Circana’s own August 2026 release, which is the primary source for the ranking. This article relies on Push Square’s account of it, and the release itself was not checked here.
- Check PlayStation Store placement: Push Square’s reference to recent PS Store chart performance can be checked against the PlayStation Store’s own charts, which are a separate measure from Circana’s U.S. ranking.
When comparing these figures across sources, keep each measure separate: a monthly U.S. chart rank, a console’s dollar and unit change, and a store chart position answer different questions.
