Marvel Unlimited is being replaced, not erased from existence along with its comics. Marvel plans to launch a new Marvel Comics digital service on November 16, 2026, and says readers can import much of their existing library. The key cutoff for reading in Marvel Unlimited is December 7—not the app’s December 28 removal date.
Is Marvel Unlimited shutting down?
Yes. Marvel is sunsetting the Marvel Unlimited app and service in favor of a new Marvel Comics digital service powered by WEBTOON. That does not mean Marvel is permanently shutting down more than 30,000 comics: the replacement service is advertised with a catalog of over 35,000 comics. The number describes the new service’s catalog, not comics being destroyed or removed from publication. Marvel’s official service page describes the replacement and its library.
The new service is scheduled to launch November 16, 2026. Marvel says existing readers will need to create a new account; their current Marvel Unlimited account will not automatically transfer.
When does Marvel Unlimited stop working?
The transition has several milestones. The most important date for readers is December 7, when Marvel Unlimited comic reading is reported to end. The app’s later removal date is not an extension of reading access. The December milestones come from contemporaneous reporting reproducing Marvel FAQ information; follow Marvel’s live service notices for any updates.

What happens to your Marvel Unlimited comics and account?
Marvel’s official FAQ says readers can import their Marvel Unlimited library, follows, reading history, purchases, redemptions, and saved issues to the replacement service. These are the items Marvel says can be brought over; the service does not promise that every issue will be available at every moment during the transition.
What transfers
- Your library and saved issues
- Followed titles
- Reading history
- Purchases and redemptions
What does not transfer
Marvel says bookmarks and lists will not transfer. The available service information does not establish an export or backup method for them.

How to transfer your library
- Create a new account for the Marvel Comics service when it becomes available. Your Marvel Unlimited login will not carry over automatically.
- Use the official import process to bring across eligible library items and account data, following Marvel’s setup instructions.
- Complete the import by December 21, 2026. Reported FAQ information says existing members can browse their old library through that date to complete the process.
- Contact service support if account-specific problems prevent setup or import. The published information does not describe a separate recovery procedure.
Will your Marvel Unlimited subscription transfer?
No automatic subscription or payment-information transfer is described. The Los Angeles Times reports that subscriptions and payment details will not automatically carry over and that affected subscribers can expect prorated refunds for paid time cut short. Marvel’s official service page says it will contact existing members about subscription next steps. Check your account notices and the payment route you use; billing arrangements may differ by subscriber. The Los Angeles Times’ transition coverage reports the refund information.

Marvel and WEBTOON describe the new service as having over 35,000 comics. Its official page lists an Ultimate tier that offers new issues as soon as 30 days after print release. That is a stated release window for Ultimate, not a claim that every tier has the same timing.

The page also lists a limited-time prelaunch Ultimate Annual founders offer at $59.99, with 40% stated savings. The offer’s redemption code expires March 31, 2027. Treat those figures as offer terms, not a permanent subscription price; availability and terms can change. See Marvel’s service page for current details.
