mccdyn.dll is a 32-bit game library used by Syndicate, the 2012 title associated with Starbreeze Studios and Electronic Arts. It is not a Windows component, Visual C++ runtime, DirectX file, or normal system DLL.
The safest fix is to repair or verify the Syndicate installation through the EA app or Steam. That restores the original file and any related files together. Do not download mccdyn.dll from a random DLL website or copy it into System32.
1. Repair Syndicate through the EA app
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
Use this first if you installed Syndicate through the EA app.
- Open the EA app.
- Select Library.
- Find Syndicate.
- Select the three-dot menu on the game tile.
- Choose Repair.
- Wait for the process to finish.
- Start the game again.
The EA app compares the installed files with the game installation and replaces missing or damaged files. This is more reliable than replacing only mccdyn.dll, because the error may also involve a corrupt executable or another companion library.

If Repair does not complete
Close the EA app and reopen it as administrator:
- Open the Windows Start menu.
- Type
EA. - Right-click the EA app and select Run as administrator.
- Run Library > Syndicate > three dots > Repair again.
If the file is restored but disappears after the next launch, check Windows Security quarantine before repairing repeatedly.
2. Verify the game files in Steam
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
If Steam installed the game, use its file verification feature:
- Restart Steam.
- Open Library.
- Right-click Syndicate.
- Select Properties.
- Choose Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait until Steam finishes, then launch the game.
Steam may report that some files could not be verified because they are local configuration files. That does not necessarily mean the verification failed. Launch the game after the process completes.
If verification reports repeated failures, close Steam completely and run the verification again. Persistent failures can indicate antivirus interference, insufficient permissions, or a problem with the storage drive.
3. Reinstall from the original source
Time needed: 15 minutes or longer
Use a complete reinstall if repair or verification does not restore the game.
- Uninstall Syndicate from the EA app, Steam, or Windows Installed apps.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the game from the EA app, Steam, or the original legitimate installer.
- Start the game once before adding mods or custom files.
Do not copy a replacement DLL into the old installation directory after reinstalling. If the official installer cannot place its own files correctly, the underlying problem may be security software, permissions, or storage damage.
The file should normally be inside the Syndicate installation directory. It should not be placed in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64. A 64-bit edition of Windows can run this 32-bit game, so the operating system’s architecture does not change where the game DLL belongs.
4. Check Windows Security quarantine
Time needed: 5–10 minutes
Antivirus software may quarantine or delete a game file after an update, failed installation, or detection change.

Only restore a quarantined file when all of the following are true:
- The game came from the EA app, Steam, or another legitimate original source.
- The item is located in the game’s installation directory.
- You have confirmed that the detection is a false positive.
- A current security scan does not identify the installation as compromised.
Microsoft warns that allowing an unsafe file can expose the computer. Do not whitelist a suspicious file merely because its name is mccdyn.dll. If the game came from an unofficial or modified source, remove it and reinstall from a legitimate source instead.
After restoring a confirmed false positive, run the platform’s Repair or Verify function again. This ensures the restored file matches the rest of the installation.

5. Separate mccdyn.dll from a Visual C++ error
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
mccdyn.dll is not itself a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime. A separate message may name a file such as:
msvcp100.dllmsvcr100.dll- Another file beginning with
msvc
If the error names one of those runtime files, install or repair the official Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable and select the x86 package. The game DLL is 32-bit, even when Windows is 64-bit.
Microsoft’s supported redistributable guidance is available through Microsoft’s Visual C++ Redistributable documentation.
Do not expect Visual C++ installation to recreate mccdyn.dll. It repairs a separate dependency. After installing the runtime, run the EA or Steam repair process again if the original mccdyn.dll message remains.
6. Repair Windows components when other programs also fail
Time needed: 10–30 minutes
Windows repair commands are secondary for this problem. mccdyn.dll is a third-party game file, so System File Checker normally cannot recreate it. Use these commands when several applications show missing-DLL, corrupted-system, or Windows component errors.

- Repair or verify Syndicate again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. See Microsoft’s System File Checker instructions.
If you want to avoid repeatedly hunting through Windows repair output to determine what changed, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for reported system problems; its free scan shows what it finds, while repair features require the full version. Reinstalling Syndicate remains the definitive fix for a missing game DLL.
7. Check storage and permissions if the file keeps vanishing
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
When repair restores mccdyn.dll but the file disappears again, investigate the installation environment.
First confirm that your Windows account can modify the game folder:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Right-click the Syndicate installation folder.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Security tab.
- Confirm that your account has permission to read, write, and modify files.
- Run the EA app or Steam as administrator and repeat Repair or Verify.
Then check the drive for filesystem errors. Open an administrator Command Prompt and run the command for the drive containing the game:
chkdsk /f C:
Replace C: with the correct drive letter. Windows may schedule the check for the next restart. Save your work and allow the check to complete.
If the game is installed on an external or failing drive, move or reinstall it to a known-good internal drive. Repeated file loss can also result from ransomware protection, cleanup software, a failing disk, or an unofficial modified executable.

8. Do not register or manually copy the DLL
Time needed: 2 minutes
Do not routinely run:
regsvr32 mccdyn.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. Ordinary game libraries generally do not need registry registration. If regsvr32 reports that DllRegisterServer is missing, that does not prove that mccdyn.dll is defective.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Likewise, do not copy the file into System32, SysWOW64, or another global Windows directory. A game-private DLL is normally loaded from the application directory. The correct repair is to restore the complete game installation.
9. Drivers and Windows updates
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
A graphics or chipset driver is not the usual cause of a missing mccdyn.dll message, but update drivers if the game launches and then crashes with graphics or device errors.
To check manually:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
Do not remove a working driver solely because mccdyn.dll is missing. Repair the game first.
If manually checking each device is taking too long, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for driver issues; its free scan identifies reported updates, while installing drivers requires the full version. Drivers are not a substitute for repairing the Syndicate installation.
Common causes of the error
| Cause | What usually fixes it |
|---|---|
| Damaged or incomplete game installation | EA Repair, Steam Verify, or a complete reinstall |
| Antivirus quarantine | Review Protection history and verify the file’s source |
| Failed update or manual deletion | Run platform repair again |
| Missing Visual C++ dependency | Install the official Visual C++ 2010 SP1 x86 runtime when named in the error |
| Cleanup software | Restore the game through the official platform and exclude unsafe cleanup actions |
| Filesystem or drive damage | Run chkdsk, check drive health, and reinstall if necessary |
| Malware or unofficial game copy | Run a full security scan and reinstall from a legitimate source |
| Wider Windows corruption | Run DISM followed by SFC |
Public file indexes disagree about the file’s precise version and size. Those listings are not official EA or Starbreeze release records, so use the copy supplied by the official game installer rather than trying to match an online version number or checksum.
FAQ
Is mccdyn.dll part of Windows?
No. Available evidence associates it with Syndicate. It is a 32-bit game DLL, not a protected Windows system file.
Can I download mccdyn.dll separately?
That is unsafe and often ineffective. A random download may have the wrong architecture, a different build, altered contents, or malware. Repair or reinstall Syndicate from the EA app, Steam, or the original legitimate installer.
Should I put it in System32?
No. Keep the file in the game’s installation directory. Copying it into Windows system folders can create additional conflicts and does not repair the game’s other files.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Why does the message say “The specified module could not be found” when mccdyn.dll exists?
The named file may depend on another missing or damaged library. Repair the complete game, then check whether the message identifies a separate Visual C++ runtime such as msvcp100.dll or msvcr100.dll.
What if repair succeeds but the game still will not start?
Record the full error, the platform used, the installation path, the Windows version, whether mccdyn.dll exists after repair, and any additional missing filenames. Then check antivirus quarantine, permissions, storage health, and the legitimacy of the game installation before performing a clean reinstall.
