1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesChoose a build around your character’s passive and the way you want to play—not a universal “best” loadout. These six playstyles pair weapons, Tome priorities, and items to help you adapt when Megabonk’s randomized upgrade offers don’t match your plan. The recommendations below reflect a community build hub reviewed for v1.0.69 on July 29, 2026; they are guidance, not official rankings or guaranteed recipes.
How to choose a Megabonk build
Start with your character’s ability or passive, then pick a role: execute enemies up close, land ranged critical hits, hold space with defensive area damage, stack poison, group enemies for control, or turn movement into damage. The right weapon and Tome choices depend on that role, your survival needs, and when the build comes online.
Megabonk is a roguelike survival game with randomized upgrade offers, so treat any build as a priority list rather than a fixed loadout. If a key weapon or item does not appear, take upgrades that support the same job—coverage, damage, control, or survivability—and adapt your Tome choices accordingly. The game’s Steam store page describes it as having 20 characters with unique abilities. By contrast, a July 2026 independent tier-list page counts 21 characters, 30 weapons, and 23 Tomes; these sources appear to reflect different update or counting states, so the roster count is not consistent.
Pick a build by playstyle
The following archetypes are published guide recommendations, not tested win-rate rankings. Each trades something—early safety, positioning freedom, or speed of ramp-up—for a particular strength.

Support items: Turbo Socks, Golden Shield, Gym Sauce, Brass Knuckles, and Sucky Magnet are listed options.
This build is designed for a mid-game payoff. It can be punishing at close range, so kite deliberately rather than standing still in a crowd.

Tomes: Prioritize Size, then Cooldown or Attack Speed, Quantity, and Damage.

This is the forgiving, low-input option among these archetypes. The guide describes it as semi-AFK, not as a strict no-movement challenge; positioning and movement can still matter.

How to prioritize Tomes
A broad tier list can help identify generally useful upgrades, but it is not a level-up script. One independent v1.0.69 tier list reviewed in July 2026 places Cursed, Luck, and XP in S tier; its listed effects are +3.5% Difficulty, +7% Luck, and +7% XP Gain, respectively. It places Agility (+15% Movement Speed), Cooldown (+7.5% Attack Speed), Damage (+0.08× Damage multiplier), Precision (+7% Crit Chance), and Quantity (+1 Projectile) in A tier. Those are that publisher’s rankings and effect values, not a universal order for every character.
For a practical choice, ask what the build still needs:
- Coverage: Size for builds that depend on area or reach.
- Critical damage: Precision for ranged crit setups.
- Poison uptime: Duration for Poison Flask routes.
- Movement scaling: Agility for Calcium’s speed-based approach.
- Stability: Choose survival support when the build’s early phase or close-range role leaves you exposed.
That is why a Tome can rank highly in a general list yet fall behind a more specific stat for a particular build.
