The folder containing the executable is usually more useful than the DLL name itself. Write down:
- The full path shown in the error
- The name of the application or game
- The executable name
- Whether the program starts from Steam, another launcher, a desktop shortcut, or Windows startup

- Expand Windows Logs.
- Select Application.
- In the right pane, select Find.
- Search for
mekupd.dll. - Review entries created at the time the program failed.

- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections.
- Search for an entry involving
mekupd.dll, the application’s executable, or the application’s installation folder. - Open the detection details and record the file path and detection name.

mekupd.dll is described by some public file indexes as a Win32 or x86 DLL, but those details are not vendor-verified and other indexes report conflicting architecture information. Treat the application’s own requirements as authoritative.
A 32-bit application normally needs the x86 version of a runtime even when Windows itself is 64-bit. Installing only an x64 runtime does not substitute for the x86 package.
Look at the exact error text. If it names another file, that file may be the real missing dependency. Examples include Microsoft runtime files such as:

Install a Visual C++ Redistributable package only when the application documentation or error specifically requires it. Microsoft provides separate packages for x86, x64, and ARM64 systems. Install the architecture required by the application, not merely the architecture of Windows.
Do not assume that DirectX, .NET, or Visual C++ is the cause simply because mekupd.dll is missing. Those components do not replace a private application DLL.
Understand “the specified module could not be found”

Windows repair commands are appropriate when several applications fail, Windows features are damaged, or system files show signs of corruption. They are unlikely to recreate a private Ratloop DLL.
- Open the Start menu.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- At the elevation prompt, select Yes.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.

- Type:

- Press Enter.
- Review the available Windows features.
- Enable only the feature required by the application.
- Select OK.
- Restart Windows if prompted.

For older software, a required legacy component may be listed under Windows Features. That still does not prove that the component supplies mekupd.dll. The Ratloop file remains an application-private DLL and must normally come from the application’s installer.

regsvr32 mekupd.dll
