The “12 free games” claim refers to a six-month Meta Quest+ trial reported on November 23, 2023, not a newly verified August 2026 giveaway. Because Quest+ offered two monthly redeemable games, six months could total up to 12 titles. The games were subscription benefits—not 12 permanent downloads—and the promotion was not confirmed as universal for every Quest 3 owner.
Check your current eligibility in the Meta Horizon app. If the trial does not appear, your account, region, previous subscription history, headset activation date or the offer’s expiry may be responsible.
What the original Meta Quest 3 offer included
TechRadar reported on November 23, 2023 that some Quest 3 owners could find a six-month Meta Quest+ trial in the mobile app. At two monthly Quest+ games per month, the arithmetic produced the headline figure of 12 games: 2 games × 6 months = up to 12 included titles.
That wording does not mean Meta permanently added 12 games to a user’s library. Quest+ is a recurring subscription. Monthly titles redeemed through it generally remain playable while the subscription is active; canceling or allowing the trial or paid period to expire can remove access. Quest+ may also include a separate Games Catalog, whose rotating access rules can differ from monthly claims.

The report named NFL Pro Era and Angry Birds: Isle of Pigs as the monthly examples available at that time. They are historical November 2023 examples, not a current 12-game lineup. Titles change by month, and the app—not an old article—determines what is available to your account.

Was every Quest 3 owner eligible?
No. The six-month trial had previously been associated with a 512GB Quest 3 purchase incentive, while some 128GB owners reported seeing it in the app. The reporting did not establish a public Meta rule covering every storage tier, country, account or activation date. Some users reportedly saw only a one-month trial.
Treat the offer as account- and region-dependent. Do not assume that owning a Quest 3, buying one today, or owning the 128GB model automatically qualifies. Do not extend the claim to Quest 3S, Quest 2 or Quest Pro unless the live offer terms explicitly list those devices.

How to check and redeem the trial
App labels may have changed since 2023, but this version-neutral route should locate a live offer:
- Install or update the official Meta Horizon mobile app.
- Sign in with the Meta account paired with your Quest 3.
- Open the app’s Search function.
- Search for Meta Quest+ and then try Quest+ if necessary.
- Open the official Quest+ subscription page.
- Look for an eligibility button such as Start your six-month trial, Try Quest+ or similar wording.
- Before accepting, read the displayed trial length, price after the trial, renewal date, payment requirements and cancellation terms.
- Confirm the subscription only if those conditions suit you.
- Open the Quest+ area and redeem the monthly titles shown for your account.
- Check your Meta account’s subscription or payment settings so you know when billing would begin.
The exact 2023 instruction was to search for Meta Quest Plus in the smartphone app, open the Quest+ store page and tap “Start your six-month trial.” A valid payment method may be required, and Meta may automatically renew the subscription, but the checkout screen is the authority for your account’s terms.

How to verify that an offer is genuine
- Use only the official Meta Horizon app, Meta account pages or the official Quest+ page at meta.com/quest/quest-plus.
- Confirm the page identifies Quest+ and shows a specific trial duration rather than a generic game promotion.
- Record the renewal date and the post-trial price displayed at checkout.
- Check that the account shown is the one paired with your headset.
- Avoid unofficial redemption links, marketplace codes and “free game” offers requesting your login.
What happens when the trial ends?
A trial is temporary access, not permanent ownership. If you do not want a paid Quest+ subscription, use Meta’s current subscription-management controls to cancel before the displayed renewal date. Cancellation can stop future billing, but access to Quest+ monthly games can end when the trial or paid period ends. The exact cutoff and any grace period depend on Meta’s current terms and the date shown on your account.
If you want to keep one particular game indefinitely, buying that title separately from the official Meta Quest Store may be more suitable than relying on a subscription.

If Quest+ does not appear in the app
- Confirm the headset is a Meta Quest 3 and that the app uses its paired Meta account.
- Update the Meta Horizon app, fully close it and reopen it.
- Search for both “Meta Quest+” and “Quest+.”
- Check the Quest+ page in a browser as well as in the app.
- Review whether you previously used an equivalent Quest+ trial or subscription.
- Check country or region availability, activation date and any expiration notice.
- Look in headset notifications and the email address associated with your Meta account.
- If the offer was promised with a purchase but is missing, contact Meta Support with your order and headset details.
Do not repeatedly subscribe and cancel in an attempt to trigger a promotion. Eligibility is controlled by Meta and may not be restored that way.
Is redeeming Quest+ worthwhile?
| Situation | Likely fit |
|---|---|
| You will play several monthly selections and the app shows a genuinely free trial | Potentially worthwhile, provided you track renewal. |
| You want permanent ownership of 12 games | Poor fit: Quest+ access depends on an active subscription. |
| You only want one specific title | Compare its permanent purchase price with the subscription. |
| You already have a large backlog or dislike rotating libraries | Less attractive, even during a free period. |
What to do before buying a headset
Do not buy a Quest 3 on the assumption that the historical six-month promotion is included. Check the live purchase terms on the official Quest 3 product page. The Quest 3S is a separate model and should not be treated as eligible for this Quest 3-specific offer without explicit current terms.
Commercial terms, prices, supported regions and catalog contents can change. Verify them directly with Meta immediately before subscribing or purchasing.
The Bottom Line
The “12 free games” offer was a November 2023 Quest+ trial reported for some Meta Quest 3 accounts. It meant up to six months of monthly subscription benefits, not 12 games to keep forever. Open Meta Horizon, search Quest+, and accept only if a current offer appears with renewal terms you understand.
