It pairs a 128GB Quest 3S with an Xbox-themed finish, an Xbox Wireless Controller, an Elite Strap and three-month subscription offers. It is not a new Xbox console or a more powerful Quest: Xbox games are streamed to a virtual screen, while the headset runs Quest VR and mixed-reality apps.
Quick facts
- Launch: June 24, 2025; announced as available immediately in limited quantities.
- U.S. launch price: $399.99.
- Headset: 128GB Meta Quest 3S, finished in Xbox Carbon Black with Velocity Green accents.
- In the bundle: matching Touch Plus controllers, a limited-edition Xbox Wireless Controller, Meta Quest Elite Strap, three months of Meta Horizon+ and three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
- What makes it different: the finish and bundle, not a documented processor, display or storage upgrade.
Xbox described the release as the first limited-edition Quest and said quantities were “extremely limited.” Its June 24, 2025 announcement named Meta.com and Best Buy in the United States, plus Argos and EE in the United Kingdom, as launch retailers. That is historical launch information, not confirmation of stock today; no current Xbox Edition price or availability is established here.
What the Xbox Edition is—and is not
It is a standard Quest 3S platform packaged for Xbox fans. The headset remains a standalone mixed-reality device: it can run Quest software without an Xbox console, and its Touch Plus controllers are for the usual Quest VR experience.
The Xbox Wireless Controller is for compatible games and apps, including Xbox Cloud Gaming. Cloud-streamed Xbox games appear on a large virtual 2D screen; the headset does not turn ordinary Xbox games into stereoscopic, 6DoF VR games. Nor does it run Xbox games natively as an Xbox console would.

Price and availability
The Xbox Edition launched in the U.S. at $399.99. For context, Meta introduced the standard Quest 3S at a starting price of $299.99 in September 2024. That makes the Xbox bundle’s launch premium $100 against the original 128GB Quest 3S launch price, not a reliable comparison with current standard-headset pricing or current resale listings. Meta’s original Quest 3S announcement gives that launch context.
Because the Xbox Edition was limited, a retailer page or old launch announcement should not be treated as proof that a unit is in stock. Resale listings can differ in condition and price, and the promotional subscription codes may already have been redeemed. Check the seller, warranty, included accessories and subscription eligibility before paying; a listing’s asking price does not establish market value.

Specifications
The official Xbox announcement confirms the bundle’s 128GB capacity and its included items. How Xbox gaming works on Quest
Xbox Cloud Gaming streams supported games over the internet. It does not install console games on the Quest or require an Xbox console. Xbox recommends at least 20 Mbps for stable cloud gaming, but speed alone does not guarantee a smooth session: latency, packet loss, Wi-Fi congestion, region and game support also matter. Xbox’s cloud gaming guide covers supported Quest access and the connection recommendation.

- Set up the Quest with a Meta account using the Quest setup process.
- Connect the headset to a reliable Wi-Fi network.
- Open or install the Xbox app for Quest where available, then sign in with a Microsoft/Xbox account.
- Pair the included Xbox Wireless Controller if it is not already connected. Xbox says compatible Xbox Wireless, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and Xbox Adaptive Controllers can pair with Quest over Bluetooth.
- Choose a cloud-supported game. Game Pass cloud titles generally require an eligible Game Pass Ultimate subscription; the cloud catalog and supported games can change.
Not every Xbox title can be streamed. Xbox also has a “stream your own game” catalog for select owned games, which is distinct from the Game Pass cloud catalog. Check the title’s current cloud availability and plan requirements rather than assuming that every digitally owned game is playable this way. Supported cross-progression and achievements can carry across Xbox devices and platforms, as described in the Xbox launch announcement.
If streaming stutters or looks blurry
- Test the connection near the headset and, where supported, use 5GHz or 6GHz Wi-Fi.
- Pause downloads and other high-bandwidth activity on the network.
- Consider latency and packet loss as well as the headline download speed.
- Try another network before concluding the headset is at fault.
If the controller will not connect
- Check its charge or batteries and disconnect it from another device.
- Put the controller into pairing mode and pair it again in Quest Bluetooth settings.
- If pairing still fails, restart both the headset and controller and retry.
Xbox Edition versus a regular Quest 3S
The Xbox Edition’s defining differences are the Xbox colorway, included controller and Elite Strap, and subscription offers. Xbox Cloud Gaming is not exclusive to this edition: Xbox later confirmed that supported Quest headsets can play Xbox games on a large virtual display with a compatible controller. Its July 2025 update includes Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3 and Quest 3S among the supported headsets.

| Factor | Quest 3S Xbox Edition | Standard Quest 3S |
|---|---|---|
| Core headset platform | Quest 3S platform; 128GB in the announced bundle | Quest 3S platform; Meta introduced standard configurations starting at 128GB |
| Appearance | Xbox Carbon Black and Velocity Green | Standard Quest 3S finish |
| Xbox Wireless Controller | Included, limited-edition finish | Not part of the standard headset bundle described in Meta’s launch announcement |
| Elite Strap | Included | Not part of the standard headset bundle described in Meta’s launch announcement |
| Xbox and Horizon+ subscription offers | Three months of each, subject to offer terms | Not included as part of the Xbox Edition offers |
| Xbox Cloud Gaming | Supported on Quest; requires compatible access and a controller | Also supported on Quest with a compatible controller |
For a fair value comparison, price a standard Quest 3S together with only the items and subscriptions you actually need. The Xbox bundle may suit someone who wants the controller and strap anyway; it is less compelling if those are already owned, the subscription offers cannot be redeemed, or the special finish has little personal value. Avoid assuming the bundle is cheaper without comparing current prices and offer terms.
Xbox Edition versus Quest 3
For Xbox streaming alone, both headsets can provide the large-screen experience; the Xbox branding does not give this edition exclusive cloud access. For native VR, the optical difference matters more. Quest 3S uses Fresnel lenses, while Quest 3 uses pancake optics, a meaningful distinction for buyers prioritizing visual clarity and a larger clear viewing area. Meta positioned Quest 3S as a lower-priced way to access similar mixed-reality capabilities and fast performance, while the display comparison documents the optics context.
Choose between them based on how the headset will be used: the Xbox Edition packages accessories and themed design around Quest 3S hardware; Quest 3 is the more relevant comparison if visual quality in native VR is the priority. Do not pay a collector’s premium for the Xbox bundle expecting a display or performance upgrade.
Who should buy it?
It may fit
- Xbox fans who want the black-and-green design or collect limited hardware.
- First-time Quest buyers who want the included controller and Elite Strap, and will use both Quest apps and cloud gaming.
- Buyers who can find a complete unit near its $399.99 U.S. launch price and can use the subscription offers.
A standard Quest 3S may fit better
- Buyers who mainly want Quest VR or Xbox streaming and do not value the special finish or bundled accessories.
- Existing Quest owners who only need an Xbox controller for streaming; an Xbox Edition headset is not required.
- People who already own a compatible controller or Elite Strap, or who will get little use from the included subscriptions.
Consider Quest 3 instead
- Buyers whose main priority is native VR image quality and who prefer pancake optics over Fresnel lenses.
- People likely to spend substantial time in Quest VR rather than using the headset mainly as an Xbox streaming screen.
Before buying a resale unit, confirm it includes the advertised controller, strap and Touch Plus controllers, and ask whether subscription benefits have been redeemed. Imported units may have different warranty coverage or regional offer eligibility.

- Check that the game currently supports Xbox Cloud Gaming in your region.
- Confirm the title is included with your plan, or is available through the “stream your own game” catalog if you intend to stream an owned game.
- Verify that the account, controller and network are connected as expected; a Game Pass subscription alone does not make every game streamable.
For an Xbox controller that connects but does not respond properly, repeat Bluetooth pairing after removing old device pairings; a reset, account change or use with another device can require pairing again.
