Many camouflage items in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater are missable during a run, and there is no chapter select. Keep manual saves as you progress; uniforms and face paints carry into New Game+. You can check your collection at Main Menu > Extras > Camouflage Collection. PowerPyx counts 59 uniforms and 25 face paints, while Push Square counts 24 face paints, so use the in-game collection to confirm the total in your version.
How camouflage works in Delta
Choose a uniform and face paint to suit the area. The selection screen displays a numerical camouflage-effectiveness value for the current location; Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 3 online manual explains that a higher value means more effective camouflage. PlayStation says patterns help Snake blend into environments and hide from enemies, and that some also have useful effects or surprises. Delta’s New Style adds a quick-select menu for changing camouflage.

Unlocks come from several sources: starting gear, field pickups, story events, boss encounters, optional challenges, and post-story rewards. Some are functional rather than purely cosmetic. Push Square, for example, describes Green Face Paint as preventing Grip Gauge reduction, Brown as preventing O2 Gauge reduction, and Infinity as preventing weapons from running out of ammunition; check each item’s in-game description for its effect.
How to avoid missing camouflage
- Make manual saves every few areas. PowerPyx reports that Delta has no chapter select, so a missed pickup may require revisiting it in a later playthrough.
- Carry out stamina-depletion strategies for the relevant bosses. Simply defeating a boss is not enough for those rewards.
- Watch for pickups immediately after boss encounters; some have a limited opportunity before you move on.
- Camouflage and face paints carry over into New Game+, according to PowerPyx.
- PowerPyx recommends Very Easy if you want access to the EZ Gun, which can stun animals for live capture. Very Easy is a convenience, not a stated requirement for completing the collection.
Chronological camouflage and face-paint route
The table lists the main route pickups and conditions reported by PowerPyx. It is a route guide to notable unlocks, not a substitute for checking each area carefully: the full collection also includes starting gear, story disguises, challenge rewards, post-story unlocks, and DLC.
