Complete A Friend in Need in the Grand Trad Mausoleum to unlock Catherina’s follower bond. Her early ranks advance through story and travel encounters; later meetings are scheduled at night on free days, and the rank 6 event requires Tolerance rank 5. The bond opens the Brawler Archetype family and offers useful exploration, bounty, shop, and combat rewards.
How to unlock Catherina’s bond
Catherina first appears during the Grand Trad Mausoleum story sequence. Complete A Friend in Need there to make her a follower. ATLUS describes the general bond system as a way to awaken new Archetypes as relationships strengthen, but its official explanation does not list Catherina’s specific rank conditions.

How Catherina’s ranks progress
Unlike a bond built entirely from freely scheduled meetings, Catherina’s story encounters advance her automatically through rank 6. Her first ranks are tied to the main story and travel, so check the game’s current progression before looking for an ordinary follower event.

If an event is not appearing
- Check whether the main story has reached the relevant point.
- For the early travel-linked ranks, follow routes where the pink Gauntlet Runner encounter can occur.
- For later meetings, check that it is nighttime on a free day and that a full free day has passed where required.
- Before the rank 6 event, raise Tolerance to rank 5.
What Catherina’s bond rewards
The bond unlocks the Brawler Archetype family, progressing through Brawler, Pugilist, and Martial Artist at the appropriate ranks. Its other benefits improve skill inheritance and reduce friction in exploration, bounties, and shopping.

Should you prioritize the bond?
Prioritize Catherina if you want access to the Brawler Archetypes, additional inheritance capacity, or the convenience perks for dungeon exploration and general stores. Bounty Bonus is useful if you are actively pursuing bounties, while Comrades in Battle adds occasional combat support at rank 7. If free days are tight, account for the nighttime schedule and the Tolerance 5 gate rather than expecting every rank to be available as soon as you meet Catherina.
