How to interpret the listed requirements
- Meeting the minimum means your system reaches the store’s stated baseline; it does not establish smooth play at a particular resolution, quality level or frame rate.
- The recommended tier is also a specification, not a measured benchmark or guarantee of a target such as 60 FPS.
- The listings name older Windows versions. Steam says its client supports Windows 10 and later starting January 1, 2024, so check current operating-system and launcher compatibility as well as the game’s older requirement text. Steam client compatibility information
Which settings should you lower for more FPS?
The Metro 2033 PC manual describes the graphics controls and their trade-offs. Menu details should not be assumed to be identical in both Redux games, and the manual does not provide modern GPU-specific performance measurements.

Anti-aliasing
Anti-aliasing smooths jagged edges; the manual says higher settings reduce performance. If play is below your own frame-rate target, try lowering anti-aliasing first, then compare the result on your PC. The source does not quantify the performance cost for current hardware. Metro 2033 PC manual
Quality
The Quality control changes overall visual quality, including shadows, lighting and particle effects. Lower it if a targeted adjustment is not enough, understanding that this is a broad visual compromise rather than a specific fix for a known bottleneck. Metro 2033 PC manual

Resolution
Resolution sets the display size. Start at your monitor’s native resolution if performance is acceptable; lowering it is an option if performance remains poor, but the manual does not prescribe a universal resolution for modern systems. Metro 2033 PC manual
Texture filtering
The manual describes higher texture filtering as improving image quality and lower filtering as improving performance. It does not give a universal frame-rate impact or identify one best setting for every GPU. Metro 2033 PC manual

DirectX options, depth of field and tessellation
The manual documents a DirectX choice. Its DirectX 11 options include Advanced Depth of Field, which blurs out-of-focus objects, and tessellation, which adds polygon detail to nearby objects. The manual does not quantify their performance costs on modern hardware. Metro 2033 PC manual
Advanced PhysX
The manual documents an on/off Advanced PhysX option. NVIDIA’s guide discusses graphics techniques and historical costs in the original Metro 2033, not Redux performance on current hardware, so it cannot establish a Redux-specific penalty or outcome. A cautious settings-tuning order
- Check your CPU, memory, graphics card and free storage against the Steam listing for the specific Redux game.
- Choose your target display resolution and try the game at its current or default Quality setting.
- If performance misses your own target, lower anti-aliasing and compare.
- If needed, test a lower Quality setting or resolution. Change one option at a time so you can tell which adjustment helped and what image-quality trade-off it made.
This is a practical sequence inferred from the manual’s descriptions, not a tested preset. No cited source provides a current hardware-by-hardware Redux benchmark or a universal FPS setting. NVIDIA’s historical guide concerns the original game; its results should not be applied to Redux or current GPU models.
What to know about the announced 2026 update
Deep Silver announced a free Metro Redux update for existing owners, with a PC release scheduled for October 22, 2026. On October 7, 2026, that release date was still in the future. The announcement describes enhancements for modern hardware but does not provide revised PC requirements or a benchmark. Check the Metro Redux update announcement for current release status and any updated requirements.
