Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’s Standard edition includes 70 aircraft entries; Deluxe adds 10, Premium adds 15 more, and Aviator adds 30 beyond Premium. Those are counts of entries in Microsoft’s edition list, not counts of every individual model or variant: some entries combine variants or aircraft, and Microsoft lists two separate Hot Air Balloon entries. The lists below preserve Microsoft’s names and manufacturer labels. Microsoft’s Flight Simulator 2024 FAQ is the source for the edition, carryover and Career Mode details.
What comes with each edition?
Each edition includes the aircraft in the lower tiers as well as its own additions. The figures below count listed entries, so they should not be read as a count of individual variants: for example, some entries name multiple variants or aircraft together.

How the aircraft mix differs
The Standard list already spans airliners, business and general aviation, helicopters, gliders, balloons, military aircraft and historical aircraft. Higher editions add particular aircraft rather than changing the base list: Deluxe includes more Cessna and Diamond aircraft, among others; Premium adds, among other entries, the 787-10, C-17 and H225; Aviator adds a large selection of historical and transport aircraft, including the An-225, C-46 Commando and Ford Trimotor. These examples describe the lists, not a separate guarantee that every aircraft is suited to every activity.

Are all edition aircraft usable in Career Mode?
No. Microsoft says Career Mode uses aircraft appropriate to its different aviation activities and that “most but not all” aircraft from the editions will be used. It also says third-party aircraft may participate. That means an aircraft being included in an edition does not by itself establish that it is available for every Career activity—or that every aircraft appears in Career Mode.
Do Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 aircraft carry over?
Microsoft says aircraft and airports from MSFS 2020 Deluxe and Premium Deluxe carry over to MSFS 2024 when both versions use the same Xbox Live account. This is a specific carryover statement for content from those editions, not a blanket promise that every MSFS 2020 aircraft transfers. Microsoft also says Marketplace purchases follow the account across Microsoft Store and Steam. For upgrades, Microsoft-produced upgrades are free for owners; third-party developers may charge for their upgrades. For details and any account or content qualifications, consult Microsoft’s FAQ.
What kind of simulator is MSFS 2024?
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 launched on November 19, 2024, for Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Microsoft describes it as a standalone simulator and next-generation sequel to the 2020 release; the 2020 carryover rules above do not make it an add-on that requires the older simulator.
