Probably—but the reports about MIFCOM’s seven-GeForce RTX 4090 BIG BOSS workstation do not include a Crysis test, frame rate, or game settings. “Probably Runs Crysis” is a joke, not a verified benchmark. The machine was reported in August 2023 as a high-end workstation for GPU-heavy work such as rendering and deep learning, rather than a gaming-focused system.
What was the BIG BOSS workstation?
ComputerBase reported the MIFCOM BIG BOSS Ryzen TR PRO 5995WX – 7x RTX 4090 on August 21, 2023, at a listed price of €28,999. That is a historical reported price, not a current quote. ComputerBase’s configuration report describes an unusually dense custom workstation, not an ordinary gaming desktop.

Seven GPUs, with memory kept per card
The system was reported to have seven water-cooled GeForce RTX 4090 cards, each with 24 GB of GDDR6X memory. That makes 168 GB when the seven card capacities are added together; it is not a single, automatically shared 168 GB memory pool. An application must support distributing work across multiple GPUs, and its memory requirements still depend on how that software handles data.
Power, cooling, and the rest of the build
ComputerBase reported that MIFCOM set each GPU to a 300 W power limit, with quieter and more economical operation as the stated aim. The publication relayed MIFCOM’s claim that this had little impact on some V-Ray and Octane benchmarks; that is the builder’s claim, not an independent test of the complete system.

- Graphics processing unit: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090
- CUDA Cores: 16384 Units
- Memory: 24GB GDDR6X
- Memory bus: 384 bits
- Digital maximum resolution: 7680 x 4320
The reported configuration paired the GPUs with an ASUS Pro WS WRX80E-SAGE SE WIFI II motherboard and an AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX, a 64-core, 128-thread Zen 3 processor with boost speeds up to 4.5 GHz. HotHardware also reported 128 GB of DDR4-3200 ECC memory and a 4 TB WD Black SN850X SSD. The enclosure was a Phanteks Enthoo Elite, with two 2,000 W Super Flower Leadex 80 Plus Platinum power supplies, four EKWB radiators, and 15 Noctua fans. HotHardware’s August 22, 2023 coverage likewise stresses that a pile of GPU specifications does not translate neatly into real-world performance.
Does it actually run Crysis?
There is no documented Crysis benchmark for this particular machine in the cited coverage: no game version, resolution, graphics settings, frame rate, or test procedure. HotHardware’s Paul Lilly quipped, “Whether or not this can run Crysis isn’t really the question.” The line captures the headline’s playful premise, but it is not evidence of a tested result.

A seven-card count also does not mean a game will use all seven cards or run seven times faster. The reports focus on GPU-heavy professional workloads and do not establish how a specific game would behave on this configuration. The defensible answer is that the system is an exceptionally powerful workstation on paper, but its Crysis performance was not reported.

Why build a workstation with seven RTX 4090s?
The coverage points to deep learning, data mining, AI, and 3D rendering as the intended workload categories. Such tasks can often be divided among GPUs, but practical gains depend on the software’s multi-GPU support and how well the workload can be parallelized. Neither the number of cards nor their summed specifications proves a particular scaling result; the cited reports provide no independently measured all-GPU scaling test for this system.

That distinction matters when comparing it with a conventional gaming PC or a workstation based on professional graphics cards. A useful comparison would need matched results for the same software and workload, along with memory per card, power and cooling needs, and system price. The available coverage does not provide those matched benchmarks, so it cannot establish a general performance winner.
