Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is a colorful, varied arcade-style adventure that captures the spirit of the original series, but its combat and replaying the same kind of encounters may wear thin. Nintendo Life’s 8/10 review of the European Nintendo Switch version, published December 12, 2024, praised its presentation, music, humor, and stage variety while noting imprecise combat and limited differences between Rangers. That is a launch-era assessment, not a fresh test of the game in 2026.
Is Rita’s Rewind worth playing?
It is a good fit if you want a nostalgic Power Rangers game that changes up its arcade action rather than staying a conventional scrolling brawler. The campaign mixes hand-to-hand fighting with shooting, driving, Dinozord piloting, and Megazord boss battles. Nintendo Life reviewer Tom Massey found the presentation and variety charming, but said combat could feel less tactile than TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, Rangers shared similar move sets, and repetition built over time.
The result is a qualified recommendation: the game’s greatest strength, according to that review, is its colorful 1990s atmosphere and willingness to shift genres. Its main caveat is that the action may not satisfy players looking for especially precise, varied brawler combat. The review rated the European Switch version 8/10 and described a 15-stage campaign with local play for up to four players. Those figures and judgments belong to that 2024 review, not an independent or updated assessment.
What kind of game is Rita’s Rewind?
A time-travel story rooted in the original series
Digital Eclipse’s original story sends robotic Robo-Rita into the past to join forces with her younger self, Rita Repulsa, and try to prevent the Rangers from forming. The adventure draws on characters and settings from the original 1993 television series. Writer Dan Amrich described the central message of Power Rangers as teamwork in a Hasbro feature about the game.

More than a scrolling brawler
The game combines 2-D brawling with arcade-style shooting and driving, then brings in sequences piloting the Dinozords and fighting as the Megazord. Digital Eclipse presents it as an adventure that remixes Power Rangers lore across several arcade-style forms, rather than a single-mode beat ’em up. Nintendo Life specifically praised the variety of its scaler stages and the retro filters, music, humor, and overall presentation.

How do multiplayer and online play work?
The Nintendo Life review describes local multiplayer for up to four players. Online play is a separate, changeable part of the game’s history: Digital Eclipse’s launch update said online play was initially limited to two players on PlayStation and Steam, and unavailable at launch on Xbox and Switch. The developer’s FAQ later records Xbox online support in December 2024 and Switch online support in January 2025, alongside information about further expansion plans. Because these details have changed since launch, use the current Digital Eclipse FAQ to confirm supported player limits and any cross-play details before buying for online multiplayer.
