Steam now lists ReLU Games’ four-player co-op survival horror game in Early Access, released October 27, 2025. Its central trick is still the same: creatures imitate players’ voices and behavior, making it hard to know whether a teammate is really human.
What is MIMESIS?
MIMESIS is an online co-op survival horror game from ReLU Games for four players. The team gathers resources and scrap, returns to an old tram and repairs it while trying to survive threats such as cursed rain and Mimesis creatures. The creatures imitate players’ voices and behavior, turning ordinary team communication into a source of suspicion. The premise is not simply to spot a monster; players must decide when to trust one another while working together to survive.
ReLU Games describes the imitation as an in-game AI feature. The developer’s site listing for its Terms of Service, revised August 5, 2026, says no generative AI is used. That is the developer’s description, not an independent technical audit; it does not establish a specific model architecture or that the game generates novel dialogue.
When was the free test, and how can you play now?
The public test mentioned in the original coverage was scheduled for June 4–6, 2025, with signup ending June 2, 2025. Those dates have passed. Steam lists MIMESIS as an Early Access game released October 27, 2025, rather than as a current free test or a completed full release. Check the Steam listing for current availability and store details, which can change.

MIMESIS is listed for Windows PC. Steam says a microphone is required, recommends a headset or earphones, and recommends playing with four players for the best experience. A headset with a microphone is one practical setup, but Steam does not require a particular model.

The game’s imitation mechanic complicates voice communication: a familiar voice or behavior is not necessarily proof that the speaker is a teammate. At the same time, players need to coordinate resource gathering and tram repairs. The resulting tension comes from balancing cooperation with caution, rather than assuming that every suspicious moment can be settled by voice alone. ReLU Games’ public description does not specify the technical system behind the imitation, so claims about how the AI is built would go beyond what the developer states.
