Frank the Furnace is fought alongside Hank the Welder and Sal the Engineer as the Foundry Freaks trio at The Pitted Stain Ripper Drill Site in Idolator’s Noose, Fadefields. Guides report three legendary drops for the encounter: Chuck, Bloody Lumberjack and Chaumurky. Clear the Ripper waves to trigger the bosses; for repeat attempts, Game8 says you can use Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine near the arena.
Where to find the Foundry Freaks
Travel to The Pitted Stain Ripper Drill Site in Idolator’s Noose, within the Fadefields. Game8 and Mobalytics both place the encounter there. You do not fight Frank alone: Hank the Welder and Sal the Engineer join him as the Foundry Freaks.
Rippers appear before the trio. Mobalytics reports that several waves must be defeated before the bosses spawn. After the initial clear, Game8 says Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine near the arena entrance can restart the fight in exchange for cash. The cited guides do not state a current price or unlock requirement.
Foundry Freaks legendary drops
Game8 lists these three legendaries in the Foundry Freaks loot pool, and its encounter guide agrees. Mobalytics describes the items’ effects as follows:

| Legendary | Type | Reported effect |
|---|---|---|
| Chuck | Assault rifle | Its “Pitcher” behavior automatically throws the weapon on reload while retaining the magazine ammo. |
| Bloody Lumberjack | Assault rifle | Its “Timber” effect makes impacted bullets deal damage again. |
| Chaumurky | Grenade | It continuously homes in on a target. |
These are reported encounter drops, not guaranteed rewards. The guides do not establish a numerical drop rate or confirm that each individual boss independently has the same chance to drop every item.
How to beat Frank the Furnace and the Foundry Freaks
Prepare for the Rippers and bosses
- Game8 recommends incendiary weapons against the Rippers and corrosive damage against the bosses’ yellow armor bars.
- Do not automatically clear every Ripper once the bosses arrive. Game8 recommends leaving some alive so one may be available for a Second Wind if you are downed.
Control the trio’s pressure
Focus damage on one boss rather than splitting fire across all three, as Game8 recommends. Mobalytics advises taking out Hank and Sal before Frank to reduce melee pressure. The guides do not establish a mathematically optimal target order, so adapt the sequence to whichever enemy is creating the greatest immediate threat.

Keep moving and use cover
Game8 advises staying at range because the bosses use short-range flame and melee attacks. Mobalytics describes Frank as a ranged attacker who uses rockets, fireballs and ground-lava hazards. Keep moving, use terrain to break line of sight where possible, and jump over lava waves. These are guide recommendations, not publisher-confirmed mechanics.
How to farm the Foundry Freaks
- Go to The Pitted Stain Ripper Drill Site in Idolator’s Noose, Fadefields.
- Defeat the Ripper waves to spawn Frank, Hank and Sal.
- Fight the trio using movement, cover and focused damage; keep a Ripper alive if you want a possible Second Wind target.
- After the fight, use Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine near the arena entrance to repeat the encounter by spending cash, as described by Game8.
No cited guide gives an exact current cost, drop percentage or guaranteed number of runs for a particular legendary. Treat each repeat as another chance at the reported loot pool rather than a guaranteed item.
