Looking for mini games in Minecraft? These ten modes offer different kinds of fun, from coordinated team fights to building challenges and social deduction. “Best” depends on what your group enjoys: this is a guide to game modes, not a ranking of servers. You usually find them on community servers, whose menus and available modes vary. Minecraft describes community servers as places for activities including minigames and build competitions, under the heading “Multi-Player worlds created by our community.”
How to choose a Minecraft minigame
Start with the kind of play you want: team combat, solo survival, movement, creative building, or social deduction. Round speed and team structure matter too—a short, simple match suits a casual group, while objective-based team games reward coordination. These are practical ways to compare modes, not measured ratings.

There is no universal Minecraft minigame lineup. Minehut notes that each server chooses its own games, so check the server’s current listing before inviting a group for a particular mode. Its FAQ answers the common question, “What games can I expect on a mini games server?” with examples rather than a guarantee that every server offers them: Minehut FAQ.
Ten Minecraft minigame modes to try
1. Bed Wars
Teams protect their beds while trying to break rivals’ beds and eliminate their players. The bed objective gives the combat a clear strategic layer: teams must divide attention between defense, attacks, and resources. Try it if you like coordinated competition; PC Gamer lists Bed Wars among Hypixel’s modes: PC Gamer’s Minecraft server guide.
#1 Best Overall
- CREATE YOUR WORLD — Build whatever you imagine in an infinite world that is unique in every playthrough.
- EXPLORE AND CRAFT — Discover biomes, resources, and mobs, then craft your way through a sandbox world full of surprises.
- SURVIVAL ADVENTURES — Face mysterious foes, travel across varied landscapes, and venture into perilous dimensions.
- PLAY TOGETHER — Play solo or join friends in local split-screen and cross-platform play across console, mobile, and PC. Online multiplayer supports up to 8 players.
- COMMUNITY PLAY — Connect with players on community servers, or subscribe to Realms Plus (sold separately) to play with up to 10 friends on a private server.
2. SkyWars
Players begin on separate islands and gather resources before fighting across the gaps. Matches tend to emphasize quick decisions: what to loot, when to move, and whether to engage or avoid a fight. It’s a good fit for PvP fans who want brisk rounds. PC Gamer includes SkyWars in descriptions of Hypixel and Extreme Craft at the same server guide.
3. Survival Games (Hunger Games)
Scavenge for equipment, manage the danger of early encounters, and try to outlast the other players. This battle-royale-style format suits players who enjoy adapting as a match unfolds more than following a fixed team plan. PC Gamer lists Hunger Games among Extreme Craft’s modes: PC Gamer’s Minecraft server guide.
Rank #2
- This renewed game has been cleaned, tested, and shows minimal wear. It may come repackaged in a generic case.
- Create and explore your very own world where the only limit is what you can imagine
- Play on your own, or with up to 4 players split screen, or 8 players online
- Import your favorite Xbox 360 worlds to the Xbox One Edition
- Play in Creative Mode with unlimited resources or mine deep into the world in Survival Mode, crafting weapons and armor to fend off the dangerous mobs
4. Build Battle
Players build to a theme, then have their creations judged or voted on, depending on the server’s rules. The challenge is to turn a prompt into a readable idea under time pressure. Choose it when your group wants a creative change of pace from combat. Minehut lists Build Battle as a common minigame format: Minehut FAQ.
5. Parkour
Jump, sprint, and navigate a course without missing a landing. Servers may offer solo courses, timed runs, or races, so the format can range from quiet practice to direct competition. It rewards movement and route mastery rather than fighting. Minehut mentions parkour races, and PC Gamer lists parkour courses on ManaCube: Minehut FAQ and PC Gamer’s Minecraft server guide.
Rank #3
- Create your very own world and build to the limits of your imagination
- Explore mighty mountains and living oceans of Infinite worlds, amazing community-made maps, servers, thrilling mini games and more!
- Survive online with friends on Console, mobile, and Windows 10, or share the Adventure at home in split-screen multiplayer
6. TNT Run
Keep moving as the blocks beneath players disappear. Hesitate or choose a poor route and you can drop through the floor, so the rules are easy to grasp but the pressure builds quickly. It works well as a lively party match. Minehut lists TNT Run among its minigame examples: Minehut FAQ.
7. Spleef
Break blocks under opponents while staying on solid ground yourself. The basic objective is simple, which makes Spleef easy to explain to newcomers; positioning and timing determine who gets caught in the falling arena. Minehut describes Spleef as a minigame format: Minehut FAQ.
Rank #4
- This collection includes: The Minecraft base game, 700 Minecoins and the Starter Pack DLC, an amazing selection of Mash-ups, Texture Packs, Skin Packs and other fun content to discover.
- Create your very own world and build to the limits of your imagination.
- Explore mighty mountains and living oceans of infinite worlds, amazing community-made maps, servers, thrilling minigames and more
- Survive online with friends who are on console, mobile, and Windows 10, or share the adventure at home in split-screen multiplayer.
8. Hide and Seek
One side hides while the other searches. The exact rules and roles can differ by server, but the central idea is familiar enough for mixed-skill groups to join without a long explanation. Minehut includes Hide and Seek in its examples: Minehut FAQ.
9. Murder Mystery
Players try to survive while working out who the hidden threat is; the suspect’s role and the tools available depend on the server’s rules. The appeal is the mix of deduction, observation, and social interaction rather than a straightforward team objective. Look for it in a server’s listing before planning around it.

10. Capture the Flag
Two teams try to take the opposing team’s flag and return it to their own side. A good match balances attacking with guarding the route home, making it a strong pick for groups that prefer shared objectives to individual elimination. Rules and availability vary, so confirm the server offers this mode.

Minecraft minigames are commonly activities hosted by community servers, not necessarily standalone modes built into every world. Minecraft’s official server page provides discovery guidance and points to an official server list. For Bedrock, it says players can browse featured servers from the Servers tab; its page also provides general joining guidance for Bedrock and Java. Those general steps do not mean every server supports both editions, so check compatibility for the specific server you want to join.
If you want to run a private minigame hub for friends, hosting your own server is an option—not a prerequisite for playing on a community server. Minehut describes server hosting and says plans may include paid tiers; consult its current information if you choose that route: Minehut FAQ.
