Yes—Minecraft Dungeons II supports crossplay between Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. You can play solo or in a party of up to four, invite friends with an eight-character party code, or use matchmaking. Couch co-op can also be combined with online play, so local players can join remote friends in the same party.
Which platforms support crossplay?
Minecraft Dungeons II launched on September 29, 2026, for Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Players on these listed platforms can join the same cross-platform party. Mojang’s launch announcement lists the supported platforms.
How co-op works
The game supports solo play and parties of up to four players, in either online or couch co-op. Couch play works offline; joining remote friends requires an online session. Mojang’s co-op overview describes both modes and cross-platform play.
Invite friends with a party code
- Open or create a party from the in-game party interface.
- Share the party’s eight-character code with your friends.
- Have each friend choose “join by party code” and enter the code. They can join from the lobby or while the game is in progress, regardless of which supported platform they use.
The code is unique to the current party. If you do not have specific friends to invite, matchmaking can find players or fill open party slots. Mojang says matchmaking considers core quest progress, region, and power level.

Combine couch co-op with online play
Start a local couch co-op session, then take that session online so remote friends can join. The total party cap remains four players. The official material does not specify the maximum number of local players per device on each platform, so the local-versus-remote split may vary.
What you need for online play
Online console play requires the applicable subscription; this is separate from offline couch co-op. The requirements differ by platform:

Continue your hero on another platform
Mojang says hero data is stored online. If you link your platform accounts to the same Microsoft account, you can continue with the same hero on another platform. This describes hero progression; it does not establish that a game purchase, DLC, or platform ownership transfers between stores.

What to know about connection and limits
- Four players total: the party limit is up to four. The cited official pages do not specify per-platform local-player limits.
- Online is not the same as offline couch play: remote friends need an online session, and console players need the relevant subscription listed above.
- Server selection is not a service guarantee: Mojang says dedicated servers select a server based on party members’ ping. That description does not guarantee uninterrupted service or low latency for every player.
- Nintendo download and internet requirements: Nintendo’s store listing says an initial content download is required and internet access is needed for online features.
