It is a test build, not the complete 26.1 release: later snapshots and the final update expanded the baby-mob overhaul.
Which baby mobs were redesigned in Snapshot 2?
The official 26.1 Snapshot 2 changelog lists updated models and textures for these nine baby-mob types:
- Cows
- Sheep
- Pigs
- Cats
- Ocelots
- Mooshrooms
- Wolves
- Chickens
- Rabbits
The changes were not limited to appearance. Both adult and baby rabbits received new animations, and the rabbit bounding boxes were adjusted. The baby chicken’s bounding box was also changed to match its new model. The old programmer-art rabbit textures were removed as part of the rabbit remodel.
What else changed in the snapshot?
Sounds and gameplay
- Baby wolves, cats and pigs gained new sounds.
- Name Tags became craftable using one paper and one nugget of any metal.
- Zombie Horses no longer panic when hurt.
- Baby wolf armor and baby pig saddles no longer render.
Technical changes
On compatible devices, Snapshot 2 changed garbage collection from G1GC to ZGC and increased the default memory allocation from 2 GB to 4 GB. Mojang cautioned that third-party launchers might not support these JVM changes, so the new defaults should not be treated as universally compatible. The snapshot also raised the Data Pack version to 96 and the Resource Pack version to 77.

Did the baby-mob retextures make it into the full 26.1 update?
Yes. The official Java Edition 26.1 release notes confirm the redesign work and Name Tag recipe. The final update includes a much broader set of baby-mob model and texture changes than Snapshot 2, including horses, donkeys, mules, bees, foxes, goats, armadillos, polar bears, pandas, aquatic mobs and hostile mobs.
The final-version notes also specify some changes that should not be attributed to Snapshot 2: baby cats were scaled to the same size as baby ocelots, baby horses were scaled up slightly, and several baby-mob bounding boxes were adjusted. The release added the Golden Dandelion, which can stop eligible baby mobs from aging; undead baby mobs and baby Villagers are excluded.

Snapshot 2 was one step in an evolving test cycle, not a complete preview of every feature in 26.1. A later Snapshot 4 article documented further work, including new baby horse sounds and redesigned baby horses, donkeys, mules, zombie horses and skeleton horses. The final release notes describe the wider set of changes that made it into 26.1.
Because Snapshot 2 is a historical test build, its changelog should not be read as current instructions for installing a snapshot or as a guarantee that the build remains available in a launcher.
