Minecraft describes Marketplace errors generally as temporary sign-in or server-connection problems. Check Xbox service status and your internet connection first, then retry; if the problem continues, work through the game, cache, update, and Microsoft-account steps below.
What “Invalid Session” means on Switch
Minecraft’s general Marketplace guidance says an error while shopping can mean a sign-in or connection error with its servers, and that the issue is likely temporary: Minecraft Marketplace troubleshooting. That guidance does not specifically diagnose the Switch message “Invalid Session.” Nintendo separately notes that a temporary service interruption can prevent Microsoft-account sign-in to Minecraft on Switch: Nintendo Support’s Minecraft sign-in guidance.

So the error alone cannot tell you whether the cause is a service outage, connection, game cache, outdated game, or account sign-in state. Use the steps below as official troubleshooting suggestions, not guaranteed fixes.
Try these steps in order

Check Xbox service status
Look at Xbox service status. If services are disrupted, wait and try Marketplace again later. Nintendo recommends contacting Minecraft Help if Xbox services are available but the sign-in problem continues.

Check the connection and retry
Confirm the Switch is connected to the internet, then wait a few minutes and try Marketplace again. Minecraft says many Marketplace sign-in or connection errors are likely temporary. A stable connection is needed to reach the service.

Clear the Marketplace cache
Minecraft includes clearing the Marketplace cache among its recommended troubleshooting steps. Follow the current instructions in the Minecraft Marketplace troubleshooting guide; use its current interface directions rather than relying on an outdated menu path.

Update Minecraft
Install the latest available Minecraft version for Switch. Minecraft’s troubleshooting page links to platform-specific update instructions, which can help ensure you are not trying to connect with an outdated game version.

Reset the Microsoft sign-in in Minecraft
If the earlier checks do not help, Minecraft documents this Switch sign-in reset:

Open Minecraft and go to Settings > Account.

Choose Sign out of your Microsoft Account.

Choose Sign in for free! and follow the displayed code instructions using a browser on another device. Sign in with the Microsoft account you intend to use in Minecraft.

Close Minecraft and restart the Switch
Sign out, fully close the game, restart the console, then open Minecraft and try signing in again. Minecraft recommends restarting the game and device as part of its general Marketplace troubleshooting.
What you can play while Marketplace is unavailable
Nintendo says Minecraft single-player and split-screen worlds remain available without Microsoft sign-in. You can continue local play, but this does not restore Marketplace access. A Microsoft account provides access to purchases, Realms, and other Minecraft content across devices; on Switch, the sign-in uses a code shown in Minecraft and a browser on another device. Nintendo Switch Online is a separate requirement for online play on Switch, not a fix for Marketplace authentication. When to contact support
If Xbox services are operating, your connection is stable, and the cache, update, restart, and account sign-in steps have not restored Marketplace, contact Minecraft Help. Include that you are playing on Nintendo Switch, the exact “Invalid Session” wording, and which steps you tried. The official guidance reviewed does not establish one specific cause for that exact message.
