What’s in the Mounts of Mayhem update?
Mojang describes Mounts of Mayhem as a mounted-combat drop built around new mounts, enemies, weapons, and strategies. Its release announcement spotlighted the spear and its Lunge enchantment, horses that can swim and wear Netherite Horse Armor, and the Nautilus as an underwater mount that preserves its rider’s air supply. Java Edition features
The Java Edition 1.21.11 release notes list these additions:
- Nautilus and Zombie Nautilus mobs, plus Nautilus Armor.
- Camel Husk and Parched mobs.
- Spear weapons.
- Naturally spawning Zombie Horses.
- Netherite Horse Armor, made by upgrading Diamond Horse Armor with a Smithing Table.
- New Texture Filtering and Anisotropic Filtering options.
How to get the update
Mojang’s Mounts of Mayhem update page lists the drop as available for Java and Bedrock Edition and advises players to update Minecraft to the latest version. Bedrock players should note that Minecraft Marketplace access is sold separately and requires an internet connection. Console play may also require an online subscription from the relevant platform; these requirements depend on the service and platform.

Was the Nintendo Switch date different?
Nintendo published a regional notice on December 10, 2025, saying the drop was available for Minecraft on Nintendo Switch. That notice applies to its market and does not replace Mojang’s December 9 announced release date for Java and Bedrock Edition. Nintendo’s notice gives the regional context.
