Minecraft Bedrock version 1.21.90 launched on June 17, 2025, with the Chase the Skies update. It added the rideable Happy Ghast and, on compatible Bedrock devices, Vibrant Visuals, a graphics option that changes the game’s appearance without changing gameplay. Mojang’s official notes do not identify the release as an “Airship Adventure DLC”: they describe a Happy Ghast mount, not an airship expansion.
What Minecraft added on June 17
Mojang’s Bedrock 1.21.90 release notes, posted June 17, 2025, call the update the Chase the Skies drop. Its headline feature is a flying mount: raise a Ghastling into a Happy Ghast, then equip the Happy Ghast with a harness. It can carry up to four players. The update also adds a Player Locator bar and new music, among other changes.

Chase the Skies was released for both Bedrock and Java. Vibrant Visuals, the graphics enhancement associated with the release, was initially available only on compatible Bedrock devices.
Is there an “Airship Adventure DLC”?
That phrase appeared in a Tech Times article published June 16, 2025, but it is not the official name Mojang gives the update. Mojang’s Chase the Skies announcement and release notes describe the Happy Ghast, its harness, and the broader update—not an airship DLC. The official documentation therefore does not support presenting “Airship Adventure DLC” as the name or description of the June 17 release. This does not establish whether a separate Marketplace item uses similar wording.

What Vibrant Visuals changes
Vibrant Visuals is a rendering and appearance update. It changes effects such as lighting, fog, and reflections, and alters how textures interact with light. It does not add gameplay mechanics or give players a gameplay advantage. Mojang’s Vibrant Visuals feature page and FAQ describe it as cosmetic.
The Bedrock 1.21.90 notes put the multiplayer implication plainly: “As a cosmetic enhancement to the game, Vibrant Visuals does not impact Minecraft’s gameplay, meaning you can play on Realms with friends whether they have Vibrant Visuals enabled or not.” The release notes do not name an individual speaker.

Which editions and devices support Vibrant Visuals?
Chase the Skies reached both editions, but Vibrant Visuals was initially limited to supported Bedrock hardware. Mojang’s June 17, 2025 launch article listed these supported platforms:
- Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One
- PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5
- Android and iOS
- PC running Minecraft on DX12
The launch article listed Android devices with Adreno 640, Mali-G68, Mali-G77, or Xclipse 530 graphics, or higher. For iOS, it listed A12 or M1 chips, or higher. These are launch-era thresholds; check Mojang’s current compatibility information for later changes.

How to turn on Vibrant Visuals
- Update Minecraft on a compatible device.
- Open Settings, then select Video.
- Under Graphics Mode, choose Vibrant Visuals.
- Select a visual or performance preset if you want to adjust the balance between appearance and speed.
Mojang warns that performance can decline on some older devices that meet the compatibility requirements. On local split-screen, the game switches to Fancy or Simple rendering instead of Vibrant Visuals.

At launch, Mojang’s Chase the Skies announcement said Marketplace add-ons, skins, and persona items would work with Vibrant Visuals, while worlds and texture packs would not work at that time. The current Vibrant Visuals FAQ describes Marketplace content—including worlds and texture packs—created for the mode and marked with a Vibrant Visuals label. These statements refer to different points in the feature’s rollout, not a contradiction about what was supported on day one.
